He may be fighting, but he admitted he's still smoking.
Somebody sure ain't gettin' the message :-? :-?
One of the local radio dj's said that Swayze alluded to the fact at this point it doesn't matter. My ex FIL had cancer and knew his days were numbered. He tried to quit smoking but it was so hard that he looked at my MIL and told her he didn't want to go thru that hell just to die. So he didn't quit smoking. For some, the process of quitting smoking is very difficult. I guess I understand it and can relate because I'm a smoker who has quit many times, only to fail and I know how hard it is. I can completely understand the thought of why quit if it's not going to buy me any more time.
That's how it was with my friend's father who had lung cancer and they diagnosed it very late. Quitting was pointless to him.

As for pancreatic and liver cancer, my former FIL died from it/them. However, a local news anchor is a pancreatic cancer survivor... ... ... Swayze has a chance. But coming down with pneumonia isn't a good thing for anyone, especially if they're already fighting a bigger battle.

I think that Swayze's statement regarding his smoking maybe alludes to the stage his cancer may be in? It's a possibility I'm wrong however it's been my experience with people that have a terminal illness that for some an acceptance of their condition develops and I'm wondering if Swayze's comment is maybe his just being matter of fact.
