Around here "shining" is taking a spotlight and blinding the animals with it and then shooting them. People are often arrested for it during hunting season.
It usually involves a couple of crimes. Hunting from a vehicle and hunting after dark. Shiners also often hunt out of season.
I hope they throw the book at those three...

Sadly, the 5 deer that were killed may not be the extent of the story.
This time of year, they essentially survive by storing up as much fat as possible beforehand and making it last by conserving energy. They congregate in wintering areas called deer yards, mature stands of spruce or other evergreens that offer protection from deep snow and cold winds.
When chased, whether by a predator or in this case snowmobiles, the deer waste energy, and as a result can end up starving. Hopefully there were only 5 deer in the field, and not more that were chased.
As a sportsman, AKA a hunter, I'm apalled by what the three snowmobilers did, and hope that they are convicted and given the maximum penalties allowed by law.

Robby and Rory, what a pair, I bet their Mama's real proud of her boys. And what kind of dumbsh!t is Nicolas for following their lead. I wonder just how many teeth these boys have....let alone brain cells!
