He was widely criticized, though, by many who called him a "regionalist" and nothing more than an "illustrator". I loved his work . . .

a perfect example of a life well-lived. He did what he loved doing right up til the end of a long 91 years. His work was loved and admired. He died peacefully in his home at 91 years of age. He leaves behind a legacy that people will find joy in forever. Sail on.
