Re: Do you swear? (Warning - Swearing Included)
To continue my previous post, I say f**k as much as other people say words like "at" "the" "and".
I really just let it fly. I am a golfer, so I talk like one.
They are just words...

I don't f**** swear.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Re: Do you swear? (Warning - Swearing Included)
f**kin' love to swear...
but it has its' place and time.
I won't swear around work more than any co-workers or bosses.
I was raised in a fairly strict Catholic household, and my mom would not have any of it in the house.
"F-bombs" were not dropped around us kids, and I think this is a sound approach to parenting
Today's standard somehow is different, and I do cringe when my adult friends openly let it fly
right in front of their young ones (in my mind, 12 years old is a "coming of age" when you learn a whole lot anyways).
Friends that I know that speak using crass terms with/around their kids ended up with kids who also speak in those terms.
If you ever hope your kids will exceed your place in life, an example has to be set.
How can a kid get the lesson of verbal and physical self-control if the parent doesn't feel it applies to themselves?
"@#%#%&^* KID!! DO AS I SAY.... NOT WHAT I SAY OR DO!!" meh

Another nurse here. Also Catholic school raised but I could make my ex husband, army master sargent, blush. I work with a multicultural staff and patient population so therefore I am capable of multilingual swearing.
indecision my or may not be my problem

Not sure where it came from, but I usually say ***** me Mabel... I dunnobravedave wrote:Phrasing is everything when it comes to profanity. If you can shock 'em with your humor then you might not immediately repel them with your vulgarity.
Anybody ever say: Well, f**** me runnin'?

Never used to, but I've become a bit salty in my old age. Now my neighbor is a different story - at the age of four, he has complete command of every swear. Impressively, he uses them all in the proper context
I once heard him use f*** as an adjective, noun, verb, and adverb in the same sentence.
"I think I might have found me my own kind of paradise"

Re: Do you swear? (Warning - Swearing Included)
I think it is overused ..... and I get really annoyed when people tend to swear when I am out with my mother - they have no respect for their elders .....
I do swear - minimally - I believe in keeping it as a "power tool" .... when I swear - people know I really mean it ....
Though I do say bugger a lot .. . and when I was a kid, that was considered swearing, but now it is even on TV ads here .. so just a normal word now!

can I join this group?Conolulu wrote:pbans wrote:I speak fluent profanity. I have always worked in environments that it seems to be pretty pervasive. I also am a horrible mother because I swear in front of my children and I don't really care if my teenager swears. She knows when it's appropriate and when it's not....she's got a good handle on it and can drop appropriate and well-placed 'f' bombs.
For the record, I have a pretty large vocabulary and know several big words.
Ditto what Paige said...
It is my 2nd language ....17 yrs of nursing did it to me.

Being a former Navyman myself, I could throw the F word around with the best of them, but never use it at home. And I really try to give up cussing for Lent.

Re: Do you swear? (Warning - Swearing Included)
Hell no.
I do, at times. Just depends on the situation. Sometimes it's in slight anger, sometimes just in silliness, sometimes while watching sports.
Didn't when my son was young. Now? Not an issue.
