Cowboys fire defensive coordinator.

Probably a good move, but four thoughts on it:
1. Doesn't this put the lie to Jerry's assertion that "our coaching staff is in place"?
2. Didn't Jerry fire the wrong coordinator (meaning he should've fired Jason Garrett instead, since the offense sucked worse than the defense this year)?
3. Shouldn't Jerry have just fired the guy who hired Stewart (meaning Wade) instead?
4. Does this pave the way for Jerry to demote Wade to DC (at the same salary) and hire either Garrett or Shanahan as head coach?
Hmmm.... Always interesting in Cowboys Nation.

Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart came under scrutiny after Wade Phillips began making the defensive play calls midway through the season.
The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Brian Stewart today.
Stewart is the second assistant coach fired by the Cowboys since the season ended. The Cowboys fired special teams coach Bruce Read on Dec. 31, three days after the season ended with a 44-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Stewart just completed his second season on the staff. Before joining the Cowboys, Stewart was at San Diego (2004-2006) and Houston Texans (2002-2003).
More details to come.

He was a lieutenant for Wade Phillips (and pretty much invisible) when Wade was our D.C. in SD
I wonder if this is "table setting' for letting Phillips go?

It's either (hopefully) that or (more likely) something Wade did under pressure to save his own butt.

This just doesn't make sense.....Jones has gone on record saying he wants to keep Wade Phillips for continuity and that Shanahan may be hired after next season. Doesn't that essentially make Phillips a lame duck coach? Doesn't that undermine his authority as the players don't HAVE to listen, as seen in the last weeks of this past season because he'll be gone this time next year. Why would Phillips want to work in these conditions? other than a big paycheck
This just CAN'T be a good, positive, cohesive situation for the players or coaches. By opening his mouth, Jones has made the locker room that much more toxic, and the only cure is to clean house, fire Phillips, Garrett and the rest of the staff, and hire Shanahan.
Of course, as a football fan that despises the Cowboys under Jerry Jones, while I don't understand it, derive much enjoyment out of watching them self-destruct.

2. Didn't Jerry fire the wrong coordinator (meaning he should've fired Jason Garrett instead, since the offense sucked worse than the defense this year)? No. Both parts sucked equally, but it's all about what have you done for me lately. Gave up the two big rushing touchdowns against the ravens, got absolutely shat on by the Eagles
3. Shouldn't Jerry have just fired the guy who hired Stewart (meaning Wade) instead? Probably, but if he doesn't have a contract lined up with somebody else, he probably wants to keep what little he has in house.
4. Does this pave the way for Jerry to demote Wade to DC (at the same salary) and hire either Garrett or Shanahan as head coach?ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY!!!!!!!

plus Wade took over calling the plays for defense which vastly improved after he did. So basically it was a good move by Jones.

yes but until the Baltimore and that game the defense played well. Actually I blame the offense for both putting the defense in a terribly position. The Baltimore game the defense was on the field wayyyyy too much. The Eagles the offense put the whole team behind the eight ball

They should have kept them so they will always self destruct in December.

I'm no fan of the hillbilly from Arkansas ... this e-mail arrived in my mailbox today and I nearly spewed coffee all over my monitor.
Subject: Texas Judge gives 7 year old right to decide custody.
Dallas, TX , December 31, 2008
A seven year old boy was at the center of a county courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy had a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Dallas Cowboys, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone!

Yeah, unlike the Redskins who just manage to stink for the whole season.
