Texting is useful if say, your friend is driving ahead of you and there is a truck about to hit him, you can text, "Hey Bob, you are about to get hit by that truck full of horse manure, LOOK OUT. Bob? Bob r u thre?"

Or, "Hi Edgar, guess where I'm at? With your wife in your apartment. I just did her. Now I'm taking a dump in the toilet. Your toilet. And I won't flush. See ya later at Fantasy Football"

Perfect example today. Starts at the bottom.

She tacked onto another email, totally different subject, and asked about the mail.

So I just changed the subject line and said 'yes'.

It's a generational thing, young people text a lot more than old folks. I text more now than I used to because, well, I'm the H.O.G. and the young wimmins be luvin' the old guy.

I've gotten stuff like that. One person was a friend, so I asked them about it.
Apparently they are email illiterate and don't (know how) to save email address in their address book, so they just save an email from people and hit reply when they need to contact that person.

I tried to explain about address books.

This is rather liberating. I got another one and it forced her to reply in the body of the email about when it would be delivered.

On another e-mail related note, am I the only one who absolutely hates the new Outlook notification? Rather than the old pop up that says, "New Mail Has Arrived. Would you like to read it now," you get a little bitty message that stays on your screen for about 30 seconds. And, if you are not looking RIGHT AT your computer screen or if you have left your desk for a minute when the message comes, you won't see it. I'll admit that the old popups did get annoying especially when I was getting multiple e-mails, but at least, I rarely missed a message. Since Outlook made this change, I have really had to discipline myself to keep an eye on my e-mail, and when it first came out, I had several messages that sat there unread for hours.

You can change it - we had that at work and it drove me nuts as I would get distracted. I cant remember where - but I figured it out - so anyone can  Think it is in tools .. options ...

I now just have the little envelope that pops up in the toolbar.
