Panama

Post by blackjack »

So, a leadership program in which I am a participant is taking us to Panama from March 3-12 this year. The itinerary is still being finalized but I am told we will have some free time.

We will be traveling throughout the entire country, not just the Canal Zone.

Anything special I should do with my free time?

Thanks.

The Canal is actually really cool. I wasn't sure if it would be boring or not, but it isnt. They have a nice museum there and if you can hook it up, try to get on a boat tour through the canal. They serve dinner and take you through the locks. Reaching off the side of the boat and touching the sides of the locks, walls with so much history, is a cool experience.

Panama City is....a big city. Nothing too special about it. There are certain historic areas, but be careful there at night. Daytime is fine.

Beaches are nice.

I went ziplining which was a lot of fun. The rainforest (El Valle) there is beautiful.

Was only there about 4 days so thats all I can give you, sorry! :D

One of the guys who is an alumni of this program is married to a Panamanian woman who has family in the Presidential Cabinet. We expect to meet some high ranking officials and quite possibly the President himself. Should be interesting.

Canopy tour sounds cool.

Heard today, I don't need a Yellow Fever shot to go to Panama, but I likely need one to get back to the US.

Hmmmm.
