Best Tax Software

Post by buffettbride »

Since tax season is descending upon us, just wondering what software people like best to do their taxes. I've used http://www.taxcut.com forever and a day, and have never had a problem. Just curious if there are any better or more affordable options out there to consider, other than good 'ol paper and pencil.

(Do Canuckies and Aussies have to file income taxes???)

You can pick multiple items on this poll, in case you use more than one.

I've used Turbo Tax for about six years. I find it pretty intuitive. It works for both our "regular" returns and I can do the return for my husband's business as well. About $40 I think. If you're using the same computer as last year, it will go back and compare what you did last year to what you're doing this year too, which is kind of cool.

I do my own taxes. And I've gotten a check from the US Treasury (in about July or August) each of the last 3 years because when I did it myself I paid too much.

Has to be Turbo Tax. It allowed our new Treasury Secretary to NOT pay his taxes for 3 years and still become the head of the IRS :o

I use Turbo Tax online...
You only have to pay if you file with them :) (Which is easier anyway than attempting to work out the math myself, then explain to the IRS why I missed a decimal point....)

I've been a Turbo person, no issues, fills in all the bdays and ss for me and the family, not sure how I'm filing yet this year though, waiting on the ex/still married but seperated, although not legally unless there's a state or federal time point which makes it a legality :-? :-? Maybe I should consult an accountant this year ...

i've always gone into h&r block and had them done in person. decided to do it myself last year.

i put everything into turbo tax and h&r block online. i was able to download my info from the face to face session with block.

block found more deductions than turbo tax. so i filed with block. i will use them again this year.
