by Wino you know
A LIMITED number of cover songs would be okay.
He can drop "Scarlett Begonias, as far as I'm concerned, but a couple he's never done that I'd enjoy hearing him cover are "Under the Boardwalk" by The Drifters and "Somewhere Near Japan" by The Beach Boys.

(Most of us older folks remember those two singing acts). :D

Too many in my opinion. Jimmy has such a great catalog of his own music, I think he sells himself short!

Hooray for Boobies? No, that's The Bloodhound Gang, not Buffett.

In my opinion, covers are nice to hear one in a while but not all the time. If it were me, I'd pick one, maybe two songs I wanted to cover during a tour and do them. At the end of the tour, put them in a box and say goodbye. Next year, pick one or two new songs.

Jimmy covering this song gives it more credence.

Jimmy may be getting a little long in the tooth but how dare you compare Mr. Buffett to Cheeseney!?! :pirate:

Any true artist has to do just that.

i agree. play 1 or 2 for each tour and thats it. and not 2 on top of beg, southern cross, scarlet begonias, etc.its gotten out of hand over the last several years. i mean i went to one show where i heard:

on the road again
brown eyed girl
southern cross
glory days
scarlet begonias
dixie chicken

I thought you were asking about the threads you started, Wayne...with polls on which you liked better? The original or the cover?

Scarlett Begonias, Southern Cross, Stories We Can Tell (yes, it's actually a cover), Dixie Chicken, and maybe Brown Eyed Girl.... all fine. Dare I say even enjoyable. Keep it to a minimum though. Leave Glory Days and Mexico to Bruce and James Taylor. And please, for the love of all that is slushy and boozy, no more Yellow Submarine.
