Breathe, for starters.

Admire all the various palm trees.

Sunsets.

The food - I dunno. It's not New Orleans.

boondocks. I forget what island it's on, but it's around mile marker 20 I think. Anytime you can play miniature golf with a six pack in your hand, life is good.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.

Looks like we need a Sticky for the Keys and Key West. The Old Uncle Billy's link no longer works and quite a bit of the info on it was outdated. It would be nice to have a Sticky with most everything on it with Mile Marker numbers for stops through the Keys.

Might be more work than anyone wants to do though.

Just my 2 cents

First place I always go to before even going to the hotel is bar at Louie's Backyard (The Afterdeck), it's close to the airport right by Dog beach, Waddell Ave. at Vernon Ave.

Turtle Kraals anytime is good but they had turtle races on Monday nights, fun and you can win stuff.

Hog's Breath for live music.

Oh yeah go to Margaritaville once if you have never been, sometimes they have good live music too usually starting around 9PM

Go to Key West. Stay off Duval street at night unless you like crazy crowds around people that can't hold their booze.

Go the the Chart Room Bar at the Pierhouse Resort. Kinda of hard to find at the end of Duval street but just ask the Pierhouse security guard in the parking lot to direct you and you will find it.

Chart Room bar was the first hangout for Buffet when he first arrived on the island with Jerry Jeff Walker. Bartender at the time was Tom Corcoran who is now an author and boat captain.

The Chart Room Bar is not much to look at but you get certain vibes drinking in there when you know it's history. The ashes of some famous folks are in little vials in the bar; people like the famed treausre hunter down there, Mel Fisher.

Louie's Backyard is another famous Buffet haunt as he had an apartment two doors down on Waddle (the aparments have since been converted to condos). The album cover to A1A was shot on the tiny beach right behind the condos. Louie's is kind of a high end establihment but still worth it.

Go to Mallory Square at sunset and watch "freak central"..... :pirate:

Boondocks is at MM27.5 on Ramrod Key. Here's their web site: http://www.boondocks.us.com/

We stopped there last year on our way to Key West. Great fish sandwiches and soup in sourdough bread bowls......... [smilie=coolup.gif]

It's located at the Snake Key bridge in Islamorada.
The scenery and the Key's Cracked Conch Sandwich is FINtastic!

In Key West.......If you like old Forts, being on an island with awesome beach access to snorkeling go to the Dry Torgugas. It's an all day trip but worth every minute.

"No Name Pub" is one of my favorites in the Keys. I stapled my dollar on the ceiling with all the others.....I hope it's still there when I get back.
