Well, we made it......another trip to Key West is in the books. I'm convinced that days in the Keys cannot have 24 hours in them, they go way too fast. Some observations from this trip:
> Upon landing on Monday we immediately went to B. O.'s for a grilled fish sandwich and cold beer (the beer was in honor of tikitodd....I really didn't want one! )
> Drove up to Ramrod Key and spent 3 days with friends who have retired there.....yeah, it's great having friends who live down there! [smilie=coolup.gif]
> Had my first hogfish sandwiches at Boondock's on Ramrod, then again at Key Fisheries on Marathon.....ugly fish, great taste. If you've never had one, try it on your next visit, OK?
> Went out to visit Pigeon Key in the middle of the 7 Mile Bridge. This was one of the main work camps for Henry Flager's railroad that linked the Keys. This project still boggles my mind given its completion in the early 1900's. Without Flager's vision and willingness to get this built chances are we wouldn't be enjoying the Keys like we do today. History buffs really should read about this. You get to Pigeon Key by boat and we saw our first water spout (from a safe distance). The ferry service may end soon due to lack of grant money. Please go online and sign the petition to keep public access to Pigeon Key. Here's a link for more info: http://www.pigeonkey.net/home.html
> Stayed 2 nights at the Doubletree resort in KW again. Beautiful facility with shuttle service to downtown and Smathers Beach on the hour from 8 am to 11 pm. Here's the link: http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/ ... 87CD.etc32
> Went to Peppers of Key West (http://www.peppersofkeywest.com/) for a tasting. We shipped a case of hot sauces home!

We're already planning our next trip!

Probably not until next year. Trying to pay down debt so I can go down and really have fun. Planing on MOTM 2012.

Many thanks!! Glad you had a good time. I agree, days in KW go by way to quickly! :-?

Did you buy one of the new T-shirts at B.O.'s? I got one this past January. And one of the oval stickers!!

Yes and I could have had many more bottles shipped home, too! :pirate:

If you like hot sauces (or are even remotely curious about same)while in KW you really should stop in for a free tasting....the staff is very nice and knowledgable. In addition to sauces, they have various jams, jellies, and marinades. All were most tasty! And B. O.'s Fish Wagon isn't that far away if you need a few cold brews to bring your taste buds back down to Earth...... :o

Thanks for the welcome back. If you can't have fun in the Keys, well, you can't have fun anywhere.......

Crap, I forgot to check the t-shirts at B. O.'s.....guess I need to go back down again! :pirate:

I swear that beer just tastes better down in Key West.......

Glad you had a good trip! We've been there four times, and no trips to B.O.'s! I know, I know! We're headed down for Thanksgiving this year...first time back in 4 1/2 years!! Soooo ridiculously frickin' excited. The Hogfish sandwich from Hogfish on Stock Island is on my list....is it good?

I love to read about everyone else's trips to my favorite place.

You really need to stop at B. O.'s.....I mean if its good enough for JB and the CRB when recording at Shrimpboat Sound, right?????

We wanted to stop at the Hogfish Bar on Stock Island, but just ran out of time (and money!): http://hogfishbar.com/ Guess we'll need to go back! :pirate: While I didn't have a hogfish sandwich at the Hogfish Bar, the ones I had were great. Be sure to try one....

Also, today the UPS man brought our case of hot sauces from Peppers of Key West! Now, which one should I try this evening........

I was hoping to get my "Honorary Conch" plaque next year. (Especially since I'm in law enforcement and have connections) :pirate:

Unfortunately, some politician gave one to somebody that the KW folk felt didn't deserve it and now they are very hard to come by and heavily scrutinized. Yes....these are the problems we have in KW. :D

Hey John,

Nice to know that "politics" remain alive and well in the Southernmost City, too! Look at it like this, your BN family is way more important than any old plaque, right? :pirate:
