I didn't have dinner there, but I liked Alonzo's. Really nice spot, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Oyster shooters.

We've always enjoyed seafood meals at any of the following:
> Conch Republic Seafood next to KW Bight & the Historic Seaport (http://www.conchrepublicseafood.com/) - yeah, it's big and kind of touristy, but the food has always been good (try the stone crab chowder, if available)
> Pepes not far away from the above on Caroline St. (http://pepescafe.net/) - reportedly the oldest restaurant in KW with daily seafood specials (the dolphin halapeno chowder is superb!)
> Blue Heaven in the Bahama Village (http://blueheavenkw.com/) - if you don't mind dining outside with chickens & cats (OK, these animals are around, but not bothersome) we've had some excellent meals

Maybe some of our BNers living in KW can offer some other ideas, too......... :pirate:

Blue Heaven or the Crepe place across the street from it
Bagetelle ( haven't eaten there yet but the drinks are good!!!)
El Siboney ( awesome Cuban food!)
If I had to pick one, it would be Blue Heaven...the food is decadent!!!

Wow, Thanks! I've been looking at the websites and Blue Heaven looks great! We're also planning on checking out B.O.'s Fish Wagon for lunch and the Rooftop Cafe for breakfast. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!

Last I knew, B.O.'s was cash only. And as far as any other suggestions...too many to list here, which is why you will always head back for more...I am not afraid to admit I have the incurable disease

Lunch at B. O.'s is well, unique!!!! :pirate:

Last trip down a local gentlemen mentioned that breakfasts at the Bannana Cafe on Duval St. going out near Southernmost Point also had excellent breakfasts, too. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to on my next visit: http://www.banana-cafe-key-west.com/

I am pretty sure that was the place that we had lunch on our last day. I grabbed a sandwich and the amount of deli meat on it was incredible! I don't think I could finish it and it was very good.

I'm thinking we may need to extend our trip by a day or two.

Just got back a week ago from our week-long Buffett road trip to the Keys. It's taken us this long to reacclamate to reality. [smilie=cwl.gif] [smilie=cwl.gif]

What a GREAT time! If anybody is travelling there by RV, we recommend Geiger Key RV Marina & Smokehouse. Say hey to Casey and Vicki, the restaurant owners, they're awesome!

We newly discovered the Chart Room Bar... can't believe it took us this long to find it. We went there and Half Shell Raw Bar EVERY night. Say hey to Emily, the bartender at Chart Room, and Joe, the bartender at the Half Shell. They're awesome!

Yes and I could have had many more bottles shipped home, too! :pirate:

If you like hot sauces (or are even remotely curious about same)while in KW you really should stop in for a free tasting....the staff is very nice and knowledgable. In addition to sauces, they have various jams, jellies, and marinades. All were most tasty! And B. O.'s Fish Wagon isn't that far away if you need a few cold brews to bring your taste buds back down to Earth...... :o

Thanks for the welcome back. If you can't have fun in the Keys, well, you can't have fun anywhere.......
Did you check out the Sports Page bar next door before going into Peppers? They have an "understanding" between the two places... you can buy a pitcher at the sports bar and bring it into Peppers while tasting. It makes the sauces taste even better. Warning... you'll be going home with THREE cases if you do this!!

The Chart House is an institution and a "must" stop for us. Did the bartender explain the various characters who are entombed into the bar there?
