Thought I'd share: 30 days till Key West!!

Is anyone else addicted to visiting all the KW webcams (Hogs Breath and Schooner Wharf in particular)? I get so jealous of the people sitting there in the sun, eating and drinking cold beer...but then I think: "I will soon be one of them!"

YES!! I check them out all the time

Maybe we can hook up for a margarita or 3 when you get there
I should be getting there somewhere around the 1st week of April & should start the return trip mid May

All this talk of pending trips to KW is making me so envious..........

We get in on April 1 and will be there until the evening of the 8th. Taking the ferry to and from Ft. Myers. Maybe we can get together while the gangs all there! Staying at Key West B&B on William Street.

We got back a few days ago and are still on a high.
This was our eighth time in the Keys and by far the most fun that we ever had.
We stayed on Cudjoe Key about 20 miles from Key West.
We took the boat with us and did a lot of fishing, cruising, taking in sunsets from the boat and what not.
There are pics on my myspace if anyone wants to check them out @ http://www.myspace.com/sundownermusic

We'll be there the 11th through the 15th...we've got a 545 a.m. flight out of NY, so we'll be able to get ourselves to the Schooner Wharf bar for some cold ones by noon!

Wonder why so many people go to Key West... as Sanibel/Captiva and associated keys on the Gulf Coast are more 'old Florida' -- not that we didn't enjoy the Keys; Blue Heaven is the closest of any US place to eat that we've been that is really Caribbean (and we've lived 4 of the last 7 years in the Caribbean)... anyway we will be on Key Largo in a month, a place we just "pass by" before, and want any suggestions where to eat.

I've spent the last 40 years traveling around Florida. Sanibel/Captiva are lovely, but just as touristy as KW. My first trip to KW was November 1970 and I absolutely fell in love. Not with "old Florida" but the island life. Since then, I've spent a lot of time on many Caribbean islands and still can find a lot of that spirit on Key West--but only if you stay away from Duval, Mallory and the cruise docks.

It's a strange obsession that many of us "suffer" from.....and few are searching for a "cure"!

For me it's just the fact that I like enjoying the Caribbean climate without leaving the country. And, the fact we have friends living on Ramrod Key doesn't hurt either!!!!
