In Key Largo we ate at The Fish House, and the food was really good.

We finally ate at El Siboney and I loved it. I had pork chops, beans and rice, plantains, and sangria. Vickie had ribs and said they were not great but good no less. Heck I don't think we had a bad meal down there, even when we hit the KFC buffet.
And suprisingly the conch fritters sold at the stand at Mallory Square were better than Alabama Jack's imo.

Returned yesterday from Key West.
Pros:
Alabama Jacks
Kermit's
Conch Republic Seafood Company
B.O.'s
Schooner Wharf
Turtle Kraals
Margaritaville
Mallory Square and the deranged cat man
The hundreds of people that walk by Shrimpboat Sound every day and have no idea what it is
The Heron House
And the list goes on...
Cons:
Seriously? It's Key West. There are no cons. Well, except for all the spring breakers last week.

Can only take a little bit of Dominique--he's gotten crazier over the years.

He certainly is crazy....and great
Gave him a few dollars at the end though as I figured the majority of the money goes to feeding the cats and providing them a home.
Wonder what his day job is

Well said! Sounds like a great trip. And, yes, having Shrimpboat Sound right "there" among the wandering tourists is great. Last trip down I overheard one out-of-towner (I could tell, trust me.....

) remarked: "This area would be even prettier if they knocked down that old white building. It's taking up prime waterfront space."
I literally had to be physically restrained by my wife and friends from dropping the old fart in the water.......

The CAT MAN is much smarter than most people know! He sent his daughter through medical school with the money he made with his show on Mallory. That IS his day job!!!

Only 18 more days until my trip! I will try El Sibony this time. I can't wait to have a Bloody Mary at Ricks Tree Bar and some Red Stripes in the Chart Room and about 20 other bars too! What block is Jimmy's studio on?

Unbelievable!! He probably wanted a Brand New Starbucks put up or something. If you would have followed him as he went by the Schooner Wharf I'm sure he would probably have had a similar comment. Then No Doubt you would have gone ballistic. Parrotheads could have pitched in to post your bail.
I was down for three nights, 3/9 - 3/12. Had friends that were also down. We were in the night after the fire next door to Margaritaville at the Crepe shop and the total destruction of the Royal Arts Academy. I will miss that place. It sounds like they will not reopen.
I did get to perform (have a $5 in my teeth) at Mallory Square. I was with Cleo, the dog act on the tightrope. Cleo jumped up at the end of the act and grabbed the $5 out of my teeth. My $5 bill of course. Never get tired of seeing this act and now to have been a part of it. The Ole Boy even knew of one of the Strip Joints (Big Earls) from my hometown, Des Moines, Iowa.
I did get my personalized license plate (GYPSY) from Iowa put up over the bar seating area at Alabama Jacks on the way down.
We are already making plans for next years trip.

I have been a fan of El Siboney well before I lived here. Recently, a friend of mine went to Jose's Cantina on the corner of White and Petronia, 2 blocks from my house. He is also a huge El Siboney fan. He said that Jose's blew El Siboney out of the water! I have not made it there, but I will report on it soon!
