Have you ever been to Atlanta? Rush hour starts between 3:30 and 4. That means that anybody trying to get in right at 4 will be stuck in horrendous Atlanta traffic. By the time you deal with that, find a parking space, and use the restroom, you've missed the opening act.
Is Mr. Buffett aware of this madness?
chances are he isn't worried. He's there before 4 for the sound-check.
Not to mention, no matter what time the gates open he still gets paid.
And paid well
Sorry we are not going to see you in the ATL Larry

I've been to Lakewood a few times. Never go by what they advertise as lot times. Always get there early. As early as you want. Who cares? They can't stop you all. Wish I was going. Have fun all.
Since the city took over the place they've been locking the gates to the parking lots so they can control access right at the amphitheater.

Seeing Ilo Wednesday and Jimmy Thursday would have been a nice way to celebrate my birthday. I'll try to make up for it in Frisco/Charlotte/Raleigh/Tampa.
I just got off the phone with Lakewood and I am hearing the same about the gates opening at 4. Last year I was in my chair with a cold drink by 11:30.
Not sure what time to show up. I am about to go purchase all of my food. I was planning on getting there 11 or 12ish. If they don't open till 4 then not much food at all will be needed.
I get the feeling that Lakewood is trying to protect the vendor market (probably outsoruced but also a way for the city to score some extra cash), those selling food and drink. Open too late there's not enough time to sell, open too early and folks cook in the p'lots.
If you go back & read last years post you will see that Lakewood said the same thing about opening the parking lots @ 4.
They did hold true and opened the top paved lot by the main entrance late in the afternoon, but opened the lower grass & gravel lots much earlier around 11:30-12

after thousands of parrotheads started the tailgate on the road!!!

the people in charge of Lakewood are a P.O.S. and parking is $20 FOR WHAT? they started out saying it was to clean up the mess, but with nobody getting in early, what mess? but I am going to be there at NOON and they can kiss my AZZ
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

That's a good one. The Atlanta PH club cleans up the lots on the following Saturday every year!
It's all about the money. If you go to a Braves game you pay, Dome too, Phillips, Mablehouse, my girl ran the ING half marathon-$10 to park at 6:30 am near the Olympic Park. They do it because they can and there's nothing you can do about it if you want to attend an event. Sucks but there it is.
What I don't understand is the statement that they will charge from 4-5:30 and no charge after that.
Anyone want to host a parrothead for the day? My partner in crime is recovering from illness and unable to make it for the show. I shall roam the gravel lot in search of bn'ers if push comes to shove. Fins up and one and a half days!

My tent doesn't have sides, anyone is welcome.
That ought to be easy to find! Kinda like saying that "I'll be the one in red and black" at a UGA football game.
Thanks for the invite and I'll try to find ya. I'll be in the Buffett Cubs jersey.
