South America Trip

Post by mh65fm »

My girlfriend and I are taking a trip to South America this summer (about 4 weeks). Looking for some advice from anybody that has been before.... Where to fly into/out of and where to go? We are considering staying primarily in the northern part (since the southern part will be pretty cold). There are a few things we definitely want to do (Angel Falls, Machu Picchu, and a few other of the tourist things) but we are looking for some advice on some jungle destinations, beaches to visit, small towns, or just anything that anyone has gone to and liked. Also, if anyone has any diving experience in South America we'd love to hear about that too. Any help would be awesome. Thanks and Finz up!!!
If I had it all to do over again, I'd just get myself drunk and I'd jump right back in...

I would start by checking with the US State Department. If you're Americans, not so sure that travel to Venezuela or Colombia is a good idea, but like I said, check with the US State Dept.

A month in South America with no agenda. You're my heroes! :D Have a great, great time.
I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

I have been all over Central/South America, and if there are two places I can recommend the most, they are:

1. Galapagos Islands (fly out of Guyaquil, Ecuador)

2. Easter Island (fly out of Santiago, Chile)

No diving on Easter Island as far as I know, but diving in the Galapagos is out of this world. Especially hammer-head shark diving.

Depending on which countries you pick, PM me and I will give you more specific info on that country.

Oh, also, one of my favorite cities in South America: Antigua, Guatemala.

You will love Machu Picchu. Spectacular.

Watched most of this series. She really got around. You might find something that sings to you if you browse the site a bit.

We went down to Costa Rica. I can give a little input on that if you're going to be in that area. Let me know.

Maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do, it's the child in us we really value.
