I agree Mac does a great show. No guests at the '07 show in Milwaukee. But I did meet Mac at B.O.'s in Key West last Feb and said we had caught his show in Milwaukee. He said, "Oh at Shank Hall". He was very nice and noone else there knew who he was other than B.O.

Mac was down with Jimmy and others recording Illo Ferrari.

Hoping to run into Mac or maybe even Jimmy at B.O.'s when I head down to Key West in a couple of weeks. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

We went, got in line.

They changed the procedure on the ticket lottery...so instead of 5th (or potentially 2nd) in line, under the old system, we ended up randomly as 3 of the 5 people at the back of the line.

Immediately started working the cellphones.
Got lucky...Crystal and I BOTH got through right at 10:00...we're all set with tickets.

Got my ticket... I'll see you all at Alpine

I got my tickets too — three on the lawn. I'll be there with some friends, and I'll get to take that goose-egg off my profile!!! I know the Lake Geneva area fairly well (did a Cancer Society bike ride there annually for over 20 years — one year Alpine Valley was a checkpoint for the ride!), so I know which bars will let me park the van overnight and crash in the back, if necessary, so I might even make it to some of the preliminaries like the blowout at Hemingway's.

One other thing, though, for those of you looking for rooms — there are some smaller "mom and pop"-type motels in Lake Geneva and the surrounding area (Genoa City on the WI/IL border, for example). A little detective work with a Geneva Lakes phone book (or a Google search) might keep you from having to drive in from Janesville, Beloit, or Rockford.

Very true Bill, most of the smaller "off the beaten path" type properties are often considerably less expensive. They won't offer much in the way of amenities, but if you’re just looking for a place to crash in the area, it's definitely worth considering. If I can help, please feel free to shoot me a PM

I had posted something like this earlier on another section of this board; apparently I was in the wrong area and the moderator deleted it (along with some other posts) before I could see if anyone had answered it. So I'll ask here:

I've got lawn tickets, which I understand are general admission. I presume this means first come, first served to the choice locations; i.e., just in back of the last row of the expensive seats . So if you've been a lawnchair jockey at Alpine Valley before, how do they prevent an Oklahoma Land Rush-like stampede onto the lawn area? Or don't they, and it's every Parrothead for himself??

Hey BB I'm coming through Winona to pick up buddies for this show. We usually meet at Bodega's in La Crosse for a beer to kick off the trip. To answer your question, in the 11 years I've seen him there I've never felt like the lawn was a stampede. You should have no problem hopping in line before the gates open to get a good spot. It seems like less of a bum rush because people are still partying in the parking lot as the gates open. In my opinion you'll have no problems at all. Enjoy the show!

Does anyone ever play mini-concerts at these shows? my buddy and I are goin with a ton of people, and we are in a tropical/summer style band, so if you hear us rockin' out to some acoustic melodies, stop by and say hi (and maybe buy a CD )

I may or may not be quite intoxicated though.

Waverland, yes it seems there are always bands playing. Hope to come across yours at Alpine.
