I'm rapping it up and heading home to finish packing and stuff.
I have a couple of stops in the morning and then it's off to AC.
Look forward to seeing everybody down there.
I'll start warming it up!

article from At The Shore...

Parrothead Fix Is Here
Escape to sunny Margaritaville at Boardwalk Hall

With the deal now dead to transform Trump Marina Hotel Casino into a Margaritaville-branded casino, Boardwalk Hall is the closest Jimmy Buffett's local fans will get to that storied, mythical place.

In what has become a rite of summer, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will perform at 8 p.m Sunday, Aug. 23, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

For the initiated, the show on the Summerzcool Tour won't be confined to the stage. Buffett's diehard fans - who call themselves Parrotheads - typically show up wearing grass skirts, giant flamingo hats and other colorful, tropical-inspired get ups.

The outfits are just one aspect of the experience, which involves a great consumption of alcoholic and other substances and the shouting of "Awooo."

That's not to say much attention isn't paid to the actual performance.

Buffett and his 10 musicians and backup singers go all out musically, performing a two-hour-plus concert that includes full-band and acoustic versions of his own material, assorted covers of tunes by Van Morrison, The Beatles and The Grateful Dead, and his signature tune, "Margaritaville."

Although Buffett is said to have an all-acoustic recording coming out this year, there's no "new" music per se for the tour. The new product is a recently released DVD, "Scenes You Know By Heart" (Mailboat Records), a compilation of live renditions of 13 tracks from his 1985 release, "Songs You Know By Heart."

A recent Chicago-area show earned positive reviews from Southtown Star critic John O'Brien for both the music and the overall Buffett experience.

"As always, Buffett peppered the crowd with witty chat between songs, including a wish that 'American Idol' never does one of (Buffett's) songs, and a suggestion that all those clunkers being turned in for cash get turned into roach clips (before launching into 'We've Got a Lot to Drink About,')" O'Brien wrote.

Buffett, who rarely, if ever, does interviews with the local press, offered a window into his personal perspective on the world in an interview in the July/August issue of Men's Journal.

Asked the secret to staying young, he replied: "For me, it's being in the water every day, whether it's surfing or swimming. I look at these guys in Hawaii and they're 80 years old in the surf break and look great. And that's all they do. I want to be in that club when I'm that old."

The advice he would give his younger self?

"To learn to play the piano when my mother wanted me to. And I wish I would have learned another language earlier. I struggle with both now. But music is the universal language; you can still communicate with a guitar and a song."

Who can catch me up? My dear brother was in a very bad motor cycle accident so I've been absent a bit. I don't have tix to AC and don't have the big bucks to do it last minute. I would like to go to one or two pre-show gigs. I may only be able to go to one as my brother is going home from the hospital today and I want to go to his home maybe once over the weekend to bring him a gift. So if I can only do one thing, possibly two what would be the best thing to do. MrOC doesn't drink, although he loves hanging out a bit so something where the music is good so he'll still have a good time minus the alcohol. Thanks.
Also, keep my brother in prayers. He has a broken clavicle, scapula, and six ribs. His one arm that got a bit of road rash through the leather is a bit of a problem and before he was dismissed he had gotten pneumonia. So he's home getting home care for infection, pt, and respiratory therapy. But he's sitting up, walking around, he can talk to everybody and is quite a bit better. We are very relieved.
