Jo and I will be in Vegas regardless. I need a little getaway from work since no summer trips to the beach this year.

Hmmmm - maybe we can convince the LVPHC to have a "Not the" Last Man Standing Party on the 17th with the usual suspects..... I mean, a lot of us have the hotels booked, and quite a few of us pulled the trigger and bought airfare....

Astonishingly low turnout at M'ville Alley pre-show party... :-?
It didn't help that, in that paved alleyway, it was easily 100+ degrees with no breeze (well hotter than usual even for Vegas)

Heat got to me ...f'sure :-?

Posted tonight Oct is out. Now what...do we just try to meet up and have a fun weekend of does everyone cancel? I need feedback before I decide what to do as I was traveling alone. If enough people are there, we could still have a great time. Let's make our own party! Who's in? Party bus could still happen. We could go to shows together and do Margaritaville and maybe some other stuff...shows, decadent things. Especially everyone who has eaten an airline ticket. Do we regroup and make the best of it with those who have nonrefundable tickets? There's still lots to do in Vegas and we are still Parrotheads. What say you all? I was mostly looking forward to seeing my friends anyway. NO JB tix means less money.

I vote we show up and have a great time! Won't even be that crowded. Stroll the strip, do the party bus, go up to the top of the Rio, etc.

We are absolutely going regardless of Mr Buffett screwing over his loyal fans(I have more to say on that but not now) I have plane tickets, free room at MGM and a long weekend in Vegas beats being in work every time .

I don't know right now. We already have non-refundable plane tickets, but they can be changed for a fee. 10/17 was perfect because it matched up with our son's fall break at college. :-?

We said we would take him to LV sometime after his 21st, so it is still going to happen, but when? I'm not sure.

Waiting for the possibility of a reschedule, even if not in October.

Maybe we should all head for the rumored concert at Landshark Stadium? Could be quite a party, tailgate, Miami Beach, South Beach, Coconut Grove....

Seems like 10/17 would be the obvious date for a LS Stadium concert, since it is the Dolphin's bye week.

That wouldn't get my son to LV though. Crud. Maybe he'd accept a substitute? :pirate:

Myself, Continental Drifter III, and Pa-Billo are still going to Vegas no matter what. We already have our plane tickets and room reservations. We're still going to have a blast with or without seeing Buffett. We'll hang out at Margaritaville and just walk along the strip visiting the hotels and having beverages there.

The heat played a factor this weekend....but the biggest difference was just the lack of attendees. Normally, you see grass skirts, leis, tropical shirts, and elaborate hats all over town when Jimmy's in Vegas. This time, it was difficult to tell it was a parrothead weekend except when you were in the alley or at LMS. I'm guessing there were probably at least 1000 tickets not sold to the show and many others sold but not used (the brokers couldn't find buyers). I was in the 4th row of the floor on Saturday night and half the row was empty seats!

I feared the weekend was going to be light...but it was even lighter than I anticipated. If a decision was not made on the October dates prior to Saturday, I think the decision to cancel definitely would have been done after this weekends results.

Unfortunately, I will probably not be back in October unless there is a show that weekend. It looks like I'll be going there in November and December as Southern Illinois (my alma mater) will be there for basketball games those months and I'll probably limit my fourth quarter trips to those dates (unless Jimmy reschedules).

I need to find another show to attend though this year as I still need to reach my Buffett quota! Anybody up for Atlantic City???

IMO, which is not worth a lot but...........I think a lot of people who wanted to go to Vegas to see JB where holding out for October, I know i was, it would have been easier for me to go in May but I had heard such good things about first weekend in October that I chose that even though my birthday is on the second weekend date. I think if the October show would not have been cancelled it would have been great.

I will be there not matter what because I scheduled a meeting around those dates becuase I was already going to be in town and had 5 other people meeting my needs. I will be so dissapointed if something really cool comes up for those dates and I am 'stuck in Vegas'. Guess I will deal with it just like everyone else is dealing with it :-?

I agree that part of the problem with this weekend was that many were holding off til an October trip. Unfortunately, I just don't think that the 2009 economy merited two Vegas shows (yet alone 3) and the MGM overestimated the amount of people willing to make the trip for multiple events.

I'm definitely disappointed that there is no show to look forward to on October 17th....but realize that the MGM bean counters are not going to look real strongly at any activities these days that cost the property money.

Whether or not these shows were axed by Jimmy or the MGM, we may never know. But if it wasn't the property that cancelled at this point, they may have done so in the in the weeks to follow after what happened this past Saturday.

Yes, I agree, I thought it was a big mistake announcing May and October shows at the same time at the time he did it.

In fact, I always assumed they held off announcing the fall leg of the tour to encourage ticket sales for the earlier months. I was VERY surprised when they announced the entire tour on Google Earth this year. I think the October dates would have sold very well. We might have gone in May if we'd known there were no October shows a couple month earlier.

Ah, well....

I've decided to bail out. I'd rather use the airline credit to take a trip to New Orleans with my sweetie in November or December when he is on school break. His ticket would cost about what my concert ticket would have cost. I miss NO anyway.

Well, it will cost me $350 to cancel tickets worth $700, so it looks like we are stuck.

I'll be damned if I go and drop a dime in Margaritaville, though....

I am crossing my fingers and think that at least one date will reappear. Just think it was a ploy so he could sell all tickets for the MGM this Saturday. I clicked on Ticketmaster at the end of last week and could get tickets for this Saturday on Floor D. Just a pity we cannot get to Vegas this weekend.

I really thought he would put one of the Vegas dates back on the schedule.. . I guess he still could.. I guess I am locked into the trip because of the airfare.. not really happy, I would have switched to the May concert!!! :( :( I guess if I win enough on this trip I might consider Orlando...

At this point, I'm still going to Vegas on the 17th.... maybe we can meet up at the Margaritaville in the Flamingo for a couple of drinks...

I've never been to MOTM that would be something I could probably set up for NEXT year...
