Re: Heavy metal v. Buffett
I nominate A1A-Keet as the coolest newbie on the boards (I've been reading his first 40 or so posts).

I like the new song S.E.X. off of Nickelback's new album. I like to see them live one day.
I like variety in music too.
I just got the new album by M.C. Slap-A-Ho & The Drive-By Boyz and it's mad tight yo!

Re: Heavy metal v. Buffett
I second the nomination!
Nicklebutt, definatley not HM. I am an old headbanger from the true headbanging era (class of 85). I had a great connection at the San Diego Sports Arena, so I got to see Iron Maiden one night (that my friend is HM) and a couple nights later caught a Depeche Mode show. Of course, I did not tell my HM friends I went to the DM show, and it was one of the best shows I have seen. Go have fun!! You seem like a pretty cool kid! (wow, am I old)
BTW, my first concert was Motley Crue also, at the Fox theater in SD, for the Too Fast For Love album. Still got a cigarette burn on my back from the Biker behind me,. since I was 15, I just thanked him.

Yep. But he's not THAT new. He's been around for almost a year, he just doesn't post much. But absolutely the coolest.RAYRO wrote:Enjoy the concert....they are great live...saw them with 3 Doors Down and Three Days Grace in Chicago...and they were all awsome.....

Re: Heavy metal v. Buffett
Is Nickleback heavy metal? I don't know. What is the standard for "heavy metal" anyway? I always equated it to having 2 guys playing guitar but that's up for debate. I mean, Zeppelin was considered heavy metal by some when they first started playing.
FINSUPinIdaho - very true about Depeche Mode. In high school, my cross country team was split between metal (Maiden, Priest, Dio, etc) and that other stuff (DM, Yaz, Pet Shop Boys etc). I was in the metal camp and would never have gone to a DM show. I find it ironic that I like some of their stuff now.
I believe you can't listen to the same stuff your whole life. You gotta try something new.

So true. But one thing for sure, I still don't get the country. I do like a very little but I think it is just to simple for me somehow (you know: girl left, getting drunk, tractors are sexy ((right Kenny?)).

Re: Heavy metal v. Buffett
Neither are touring to be in Tx the same week as Buffett, I know what metal is, if you think I'm not you have clearly mistaken me for some wannabe metal head, ive been to motley crue 2 times[once with areosmith],metallica, ozzy,in this moment,maroon5[i know they aren't metal]styx,Iron Maiden, and i went to Ozzfest 08' BACKSTAGE because my grandpa is bff's with their manager ever since they were kids and he hooked me up. That was my bday present, hanging with metallica and ozzy backstage all day with the other bands that played.....boo yah.plus I have tons of autographed stuff from various metal bands and vinyls, tour shirts,a Dr Feelgood black denim jacket from the world tour in 85' and over 3o guitar pics from shows I went to and recieved the pics from the people in the bands. do NOT think I'm not a metalhead I know who slipknot and pantera are but thy wont be in tx same time as Buffett. Ive seen many others and tally them up but do not have nearly the amount of space these posts limit.Lightning Bolt wrote:buffettbride wrote:Nickelback? Heavy metal?????

It's no big, .... but, it is clear you've just opened up another discussion over who thinks who or what is Heavy Metal, that's all.
...and you're not getting any agreement about Nickelback falling into that category.
IMO....I'd pick a Buffett show over Nickelback

sweetie - chill. I don't think anyone ment anything bad by what they've said - like LB said you just opened up a discussion. Please also realize that a lot of us are old enough to be your grandparents and well we've got those years of experience and years of shows up on you. Don't get so defensive.A1A-Keet wrote:Neither are touring to be in Tx the same week as Buffett, I know what metal is, if you think I'm not you have clearly mistaken me for some wannabe metal head, ive been to motley crue 2 times[once with areosmith],metallica, ozzy,in this moment,maroon5[i know they aren't metal]styx, and i went to Ozzfest 08' BACKSTAGE because my grandpa is bff's with their manager ever since they were kids and he hooked me up. I'd love to see Jimmy covering some Metallica. He could go old school - play some Seek and Destroy. Or, better yet, Damage Inc. Mac could wale on the guitar. Man, I love my metal. I probably like the 80's/90's metal more than Buffett.changingchannels wrote:just saw metallica last week and they put on a great show! jimmy should cover some songs on the death magnetic album.

Re: Heavy metal v. Buffett
Very first concert I ever saw was Quiet Riot/Iron Maiden in '83 at the UIC Pavillon. What a loud show. Last metal show I saw was Bon Jovi/ Scorpions in 1984. I remember thinking that Bon Jovi sucked and they would never amount to anything.Hockey Mon wrote:I'd love to see Jimmy covering some Metallica. He could go old school - play some Seek and Destroy. The image of Jimmy in a righteous 80's metal hair wig covering some heavy metal with a reggae sound is entertaining.
