QR/IM - yeah, I'm sure it was loud. The second concert I ever went to was Bon Jovi in Jan of 1986. I agree with you in thinking that they were not too good and would never go anywhere. A few years later, as I was into more serious metal, I could not believe I went to that show. I threw away my ticket stub (I have all my other ones) and purged that memory from my head. I look back at it now and laugh. While I'm not a Bon Jovi fan, he seems to have done okay.Frank4 wrote:Very first concert I ever saw was Quiet Riot/Iron Maiden in '83 at the UIC Pavillon. The image of Jimmy in a righteous 80's metal hair wig covering some heavy metal with a reggae sound is entertaining.

Well, the next month after QR/IM I saw Quiet Riot and Black Sabbath with the guy from Deep Purple on vocals. I just remember Sabbath starting and being terrified. Loud, weird, scary. Thank God the tickets were free.Hockey Mon wrote:QR/IM - yeah, I'm sure it was loud. The second concert I ever went to was Bon Jovi in Jan of 1986. I think the thing about Bon Jovi is his music has grown up over the years. The sound has changed and I think they are better now then when they started.
I thank the Lord for the people I have found

That was the biggest joke ever! JT getting the grammy for HM Artist, over Metallica. I think Ian took out an ad in NY times saying "the flute is not a HM instrument" or something to that extent.Well, if Jethro Tull is HM, so is Nickelback

I went to the Iced Earth Show two days before Jimmy a few years back. It was a pretty easy transition.
One year I took my wife (then girlfriend) to see the Phantom of the Opera (musical) on one day, then I went to Metallica and Guns Roses (together) the next day, and then took her to see Yanni a few days later.

Apocalyptica uses string instruments that aren't guitars, the instruments they use were originally used for jazz and blues but they played metallica covers at ozzfest 08'.They play the cello and have a drummer and no singer. plus didn't u hear metallica is going to the hall of fame?FINSUPinIdaho wrote:That was the biggest joke ever! While I am sitting here reading Buffettnews I have Metallica's "Death Magnetic" cranked. My wife isn't here, which is why I have it loud, she doesn't appreciate metal.

I saw Bon Jovi last year. I had to fulfill that 7th grade fantasy. I even teared up a little when they did "I'll Be There For You."
The Dropkick Murphys put on a great show too, but they are probably a little more Celtic Punk than metal.

I cried when MetallicA played enter sandman at ozzfest 08' because right before they played it Hetfield said happy birthday to me and earlier that day I had told Hetfield that enter sandman was the first metal song I ever heard and that my bday was at the end of the month so hearing seven years later and live for the first time &only a few days before my bday made me cry.It is still to this day the happiest day of my life, peejay wrote:I saw Bon Jovi last year.
