Live Nation and TicketMaster.

I was looking at the TicketMaster site and LiveNation, and I notice that some shows are listed on both sites. For example, the May 16 Las Vegas show is listed on LiveNation and TicketMaster. Does this mean that both places will be selling tickets to this show?

No, the shows at each venue will be handled either by Live Nation or TicketMaster. For the TM shows, Live Nation will usually link to the TM website at the time tickets go onsale, but that will just put you behind everyone else. TM, for shows being sold by Live Nation. will send you to its broker site to purchase outrageously priced tickets. You need to know which agent is handling the tickets for your venue.

The tour dates page on this site is accurate with the exception of Bridgeview which is TicketMaster not Live Nation.

Thank you so much for your help. I was a bit confused on where to go for my Vegas tickets and my Chicago tickets.

Yesterday the 'click here to purchase' link for the Tampa show on the m'ville.com tour date page opened the Live Nation site, today if you click the same link it opens the TicketMaster site - I'm so confused [smilie=graytard.gif] !!
Someone please tell me what to do - I don't want to risk getting shut out on Saturday morning.

I have an email in to Margaritaville describing the confusion of the fans. We shall see if I get a response.

In theory if they are both pulling from the same inventory it should not make a difference which site you use , unless TM direct you to LN and you have to start over again. If each site has a certain allotment of different sections it could make a big difference. For example I remember for a time about 20 years back if you used TM to get Red Sox tickets they could only pull seats in certain grandstand sections. So if you wanted Box Seats you were out of luck and had to get them from the team's box office. Guess we will have to see.

But don't be surprised if you don't get an answer. The good folks at M'Ville may not know. It's ticketmaster and live nation (or ticketmonster and vile nation, as I prefer) who have the answers.....

And the answers we have been getting from them really havent gotten us anywhere. It seems anytime someone emails or calls, it is a different response.

I wont be surprised if I dont get an answer, but they SHOULD know who is selling the tickets, its their shows :-?

Dear Patron,

Thank you for contacting Live Nation Customer Care with your inquiry!

We will be ticketing for this event. Please contact us at 877.598.8497 to make a sale, or purchase them online at ww.livenation.com. Once our inventory is exhausted we may re-direct to Ticketmaster.

Please respond to this e-mail if we can be of further assistance regarding this or any other inquiry.

Sincerely,
Cindy

Got that email a few days ago.

Didn’t think at the time that could possibly mean that they were both handling the ticketing. That’s nuts! Figured that once they were sold out they would redirect to ticketmaster, who would redirect to ticketsnow for broker tickets.

But the two emails together make it sound like they will have separate inventories.

This is gonna be BIG f’n mess, to say the least!

I spoke with someone at Livenation today, they told me tickets go on sale tomorrow  after I told her I was calling about the tickets that go on sale tomorrow for the Buffett - Mansfield show in June    she transferred me to someone else, they could not tell me ticket prices or anything that we don't already know from the various threads on BN.
So...........I called tickemaster, and he said that yes they will be handling the sales tomorrow, and no we will not be re-directed to livenation or tickentsnow, ticketmaster only. Tickets, including tax, bla bla ba, range from $48 to $157 I think it was.(prices are upstairs and I'm too lazy to go get them).
He also said that some out of state outlets, may have a 15 minute block on them :o So if you're going to a store to buy tickets in Fla for a MA show, you may have to wait til 10:15 for your chance at tix. Best to call you local outlet if this is your plan.

Last year they both (TM & LN) sold tickets to the Alpine show. I bought from both with no problems.

For what it's worth in regards to Atlanta:

The first time I emailed Livenation, they told me only Ticketmaster was selling tickets and that Livenation would be redirecting to Ticketmaster.

The second time I emailed Livenation, they told me that Livenation and Ticketmaster would EACH have an allotment of tickets.

I give up

No kidding, last I heard they are BOTH selling Tampa and GW, I think maybe because LN did such a beyond lousy job last weekend maybe it's been switched to TM. I can't believe I'm even saying this but I'd rather use TM since my credit card info is already loaded in. I guess I'll have both open and see what happens.

GAH!!
