I'm still not saying it, that the Saints will go 16-0 and then 19-0. It would be a shame for the Saints to not win the Super Bowl next year after having such a great year this year. And for such a perennially bad team too. The Colts have already won a Super Bowl. The second best record ever is a tie, 18-1 between Chicago and New England. Chicago, of course, WON the Super Bowl.
You are, I'm sure, considering the 1972 Dolphins, with their perfect 17-0 season (14-0 in regular season, 3-0 in playoffs/Super Bowl), to be the best record.....based on overall winning percentage (1.000). The Bears and the Pats at 18-1 yields a percentage of 0.947.

However in 1972 there were only 14 regular season games as opposed to 16 now, and I'm wondering if there were any games in that season that were close enough to put their record in jeopardy (meaning I think they'd have been hard pressed to win 2 more regular season games)
not only was the season shorter, but the schedule that the 'fins played that season was VERY weak.....but, in all fairness, they played the schedule they were given, and beat all comers. Perhaps if the Pats hadn't been so cocky heading into that Superbowl, they could've taken their rightful place as the 2nd undefeated season.

Actually, I thought the Pats schedule wasn't that much better. Nonetheless, I think it's comparing apples to oranges. So much about the game has changed. Yeah, the field is still 100 yards but the way they call penalties, the pseeds, etc, it's just different. Personally, I get tired of all the talk about the Dolphins and their perfect season (and not because they beat my Redskins in the Super Bowl) and all the comparisons made to all the other teams. But, I do respect what they did because they lost in the SuperBowl the year before and then won it again the year after proving that season wasn't a fluke and they were were pretty damn good.

So did the 9ers which is one of the reasons the Seachickens managed to beat em.

..and you couldn't have gotten a better holiday gift than that stupid Redskin kicker missing that kill shot FG late in the 4th.

... and I still think Suisham should be cut to serve as a shock to the rest of the team that they are not immune either.

Shameful showing.
Absolutely pitiful performance this year by the Steelers. Technically, they "could" still get a wildcard berth, but for all intents and purposes, they're DONE. Stick a fork in em. Maybe by getting a higher draft slot this year, we can pick up some MUCH needed help in the secondary.

I was like that about the Redskins when they lost to the Lions.

My dream scenario for the Super Bowl is for Indy and NO to both arrive undefeated, and we finally put the '72 Dolphins to rest.

The Saints win and are declared the greatest team of all time! :pirate:
