NEW YORK (AP)—Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in his MVP season of 2003, according to a report by Sports Illustrated.

The New York Yankees star tested positive for two anabolic steroids, four sources told Sports Illustrated in a story posted Saturday on its Web site.

His name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in a 2003 baseball survey, the magazine said. He reportedly tested positive for Primobolan and testosterone while playing for the Texas Rangers.

It would be very short list.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

I never used performance enhancing drugs when I played baseball, and I have the statistics to prove it.

Why? What are these idiots thinking. Do they have a clue what that stuff does to your body? It causes irreversible damage. "Yeah, I'm a big ass baseball player with balls the size of marbles." I guess their careers are more important than their health and sex life.

While your comment just overloaded my sarcasm meter, there is a lot of truth in it. Just change baseball player to "pro athlete" and you just described the majority of todays sports icons.

At least the Texas Rangers got their name in national sports forums again.

Thanks, A-Roid . . . i mean, A-Rod!
Hank Hill : Just in case I'm incapacitated for some reason, do you know how to start a man's heart with a downed power line?

Bobby: No.

Hank : Well, there's really no wrong way to do it.

Yeah, why did it take so long for the report to be made public? And are they testing current players?

The reason the results were not released earlier was because they weren't supposed to be released. In 2003, MLB implemented drug testing to survey how widely used it was. Apparently, A-Rod was one of 104 players that tested positive. The results were supposed to be destroyed after a 30 days and that didn't happen, and the sample was only labeled with a code and the list of player names with their code was in an entirely different office in another state, so they weren't supposed to be linked. On top of that, the names of players that tested positive in 2004 for the first time were never released, so who knows if A-Rod is also on that list and how many other players are on it as well.

They are currently testing all players. I don't know how often, but the penalty for your first offense is a 50 game suspension, 2nd offense is 100 games suspension, and 3rd offense is lifetime ban (I think).

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Proves what Red Sox fans have known (at least since 2004), he should change his name to A-Fraud.

When he left for Texas ("It's not about the money") . . . Seattle fans called him pay-Rod and threw monopoly money at him when Texas was in town . . .

You know, I never believe any athlete who signs with another team for a bigger contract and then says "It's not about the money."
