Which venue is the best

Post by rbassmaster »

I am a long time Buffett fan and have seen him many times in California and Vegas. I am looking for a road trip this summer and want to find the best Jimmy Buffett venue. Please help? I want the complete Buffett experience. Pre parties, tail gates, concert, after parties. You know what I mean!

It's like asking what is better steak or lobster. All personal preference on what is the best. You might get a better idea by asking what venus you should avoid due to late parking lot openings etc.

I was wondering about this myself, so I did a search and was surprised find that this question did not receive more responses. So, let me rephrase the question with a "final supper" kinda spin:

For those of you who have been to multiple venues, if you only could go to one more JB concert, where would you want it to be? And I mean of the venues you been to...obv. for a final concert I think we'd all pick some place like St. Bart's, no?! :-)

I have been to so many different venues, for Buffett and otherwise, and I have to say that Alpine Valley is my personal favorite. Every show there is an experience, not just a concert.

Plus, Buffett loves that venue as well. He has indicated several times that it is one of his favorites to play. The energy and vibe there is tough to match.

STOP!!! :o :o I need to go make some popcorn.....
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

No one venue is better than another....

What makes it the best is the experience YOU make of it.

Obviously you have never seen Jimmy at a small venue or at an indoor venue because there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Now I know this Joe down in Mexico.
He went there to work on his tan.
For years he's been plugged into blenders and songs.
They call him the Twelve Volt Man

Well then...Personal preference for outdoor venues aside...Even though seeing Jimmy at a much larger outdoor venue like Jacob's Field, Fenway Park, or Wrigley Field seems much different experience than seeing him at a small amphitheater...There is definitely a huge difference between seeing him indoors and outdoors.

I've never been there for a concert, but how can it get any better than Live By The Bay? Put me in a tube and color me happy.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

Experienced the show from the Ohio River behind Riverbend several times, when he use to do multiple shows. If you got the right spot you could see the big screens, which is not much different from the lawn anyway. Swimming from boat to boat getting jello shots and other assorted boat drinks. Even have a boat that will deliver pizza. Probably as close to "By the Bay" as you are gonna get. See pic.

As far as tailgates go, the lots open at 8 am at Cincinnati. Can't get much better than that. Personally, I haven't found any ampitheatre venue that is really any good for most concerts. Buffett works okay since the stage show generally isn't much (not like Pink Floyd or Rush for example).

Nice pics. Are there any houseboat rentals on the river in Cincy?

I don't believe there are. Funny, I have lived here my whole life and have never heard of any so I would assume there aren't, but I wouldn't swear to it.
