I am just going to wear my sneakers on the plane I guess. I thought about wearing old ones then just throwing them away once we got our Columbier adventure completed. Then again Autour might be another to wear them to.
Geed why do I have this feeling we have talked about women's attire with you on this forum.

Braless, see-through etc.
Shirley, Sounds like a plan to me. We are up for just about anything. I like beaches, so that sounds good. It would be neat to see the island from a boat, depending on how expensive it is. As long as I have an cool drink in my hand I will be happy! I am a little concerned about parking for the show though. Sounds like it may be a problem. We may have to get moving early that day. Maybe just grab some food and take it back to our villa and play cards or something the night before.

....a lot of Gustavia's parking problem is the lack of anywhere for all the shop employees to park...it clears out somewhat after 6:00..but is still bad.....my advice is to scope out all the side streets a day ahead and keep in mind that along the harbour it is customary to park halfway ON the sidewalk....lots of small holes for a small car to squeak into...as long as you don't totally block a driveway no one will get upset. Wear sneakers, it will be a LONG walk to your car.....you could always reserve a taxi ahead of time and not worry about getting there, back would be another problem...

Since we have only visited St. Barth for a day on a Regent cruise we surely don't know our way around I'm so excited to explore !!!
wear them on the plane, that's what we always do.
Exactly and they come in handy if you have to run for a connecting flight!
Good idea ladies but I wanted to wear a cute pr. of black heels with a long dress w/shorts underneath and a long black sweater. . The dress is a little heavy and I didn't want to spare the extra weight. . . My sandals are very light weight maybe I'll put them in my huge purse but sneakers with a dress

LOL !!!!! Decisions .... Decisions . . . .
I've long ago thrown out the idea of looking any kind of cute on the plane. It could be snowing when I leave Vermont so the best I can do is a nice pair of yoga type pants over some shorts or some shorts in my carry on bag for when I get to SXM. The difference in weather is just too great. Plus I get on the plane at 6AM and get to SXM about 4, that amount of travel time will take it's toll anyway!

I'm telling you the flight down and my luggage is causing me so much angst I can't even believe it.

Scarlet..are you doing only carry on? Checking isn't THAT much of a hassle....We always check and it may only take an extra 10 minutes or so...if you have enought time between flights, just check and take what you need...

No I'm getting in the night before and have to stay on SXM since Jet Blue only has one flight per day from here and it doesn't get there in time for the last flights out to SBH. So I'm checking a bag but I'm thinking I may carry a bigger "purse" than usual so I can bring some extra "stuff"
Though I'm getting myself used to the idea of wearing stuff more than once. I'm not real high maintenance when it comes to clothes anyway. Other things maybe but not clothes

All you need is you, everthing else will fall into place..and when you first see Gustavia Harbour, OPH will have a whole new meaning.

I'm assuming I will probably start crying like a baby if/when he plays that on Saturday!
I'm at one of my OPH's right now, Nantucket.
I'm staying at the St Jean hotel (can't recall the name at the moment) for 2 nights after the villa.
It's on the beach

So do any of you SB experts have any idea about a cruise on a boat as far of cost? I honestly doubt Jimmy would offer us a sail aboard his lovely boat even if it is tied up at the harbour.
Ryan we have got to get some ideas of where we want to eat. Open to some reasonablely priced ideas of restaurants.....Geed or Carol??? Or anyone else.

ScarletB I'm also majorly stressing about my carry-on (only luggage ) and what all I can fit in it to keep it a 44lbs !!! That's why I was going to wear a long dress w/ 3 quarter sleeves put shorts on underneath and a couple tops on underneath too . . . I know I will look like the pillsbury dough girl but I'll start stripping down on the little commuter LOL !!!! I have bought so many new outfits and I'm sure I can't bring half of them . . . . .
Summerlover renting a boat sounds perfect when you get some pricing LMK . . . We have a pontoon the partay boat !!!
Before I start worrying about parking the morning of the concert we have to figure out where the hell it is first LOL !!! I remember when we rented a car for the day we parked half the little car on the street and the other half was on the sidewalk

( everyone else was so we did too ).
I'll be so ready for my first rum punch and pastry !!!!!!

I'd love to do a day sail of some sort as well, I've never been there before so I'm not much help on how to do that. I know some people on SBHonline rented sailboats for the day to watch the bucket races in March so i know it can be done and if you have a sizeable group I have to believe it's not going to be TOO terrible cost wise.
"Pillsbury dough girl!"

I live in Vermont and when the exchange rate was really good for Canadians to come over and shop they used to rip the price tags off their clothes in the parking lot of one of the big stores and put all their purchases on so they wouldn't have to claim them on the way home!
The concert is on the quay (harbor) in Gustavia - I'm still assuming we'll have to get there really early, park wherever we can and walk. Quite possibly another sneaker day.

Summerlover, this could be a long list.......Catamaran from Top Loc 011 590 690 49 90 30, Cruiser from Yannis Marine 011 590 590 29 89 12, Plongee Caraibes for diving or sightseeing 011 590 690 54 66 14. Some of my favorites, Select of course for burgers and beer, Le Creperie just up the hill from Select for breakfast, lunch and dinner-great people, also in Gustavia Route de Boucaniers at the end of the harbor, L'Entracte also known as Kudeta or whatever the owner calls it this week..we call it the blue coconut because of the tall lit up blue coconut tree..Bar de Oblie across from Select..la Cantina next to blue coconut..La Saladerie across the harbor from Select....Bete a Zailes next to Boucaniers (also known as Baz Bar,Jimmy's hang out) for sushi and music, Do Brazil on Shell Beach in the far corner of Gustavia..Pipiri Palace or Eddy's for dinner( Pipiri is known as The Palace and Eddy's prides himself as being the hardest to find, just ask) ..towards Columbier, La Bananiers for pizza salads and the best escargot which is next door to the best bakery Petit Columbe....across from the airport is Match supermarket where you can pick up roasted chicken and other carry out items, also Maya's to go for really good carry out stuff. on St. Jean beach go to Nikki's for lunch or dinner in the sand, great sushi . Across the street is Kiki-Mo for pizza salads and great carry out...Andy's Hideaway for great everything..La Plage on the beach on St Jean..and so many more..don't be intimidated to try the little hole in the walls...so many more, these are just a few that I have tried and would recommend.....these are all casual and there are plenty of fine dining choices...if you need more info just ask.....

Just a thought maybe we somehow fit more than 2 people in a car so that would be less parking spaces to find .........

You'll be missed Larry!! But I think we all understand
I DON'T get why you can't make Oktoberfest though!!!!
Summerlover et al, I just spent a boatload of money on some gorgeous washable linen lightweight outfits at a place here on Nantucket. I've been stressing over having nothing to wear and I think I just solved most of my wardrobe issues!

Hi all. I'm still trying to find someone to share our room in St. Barts. If any of you have friends looking to go, send them my way. Scarlet, I see your from Vermont. Where about? I practically grew up there. Every summer for 43 years. I have a question for all who have been to St. Barts. I have Verizon as my cell phone carrier. I can't make international calls with my cell. What is the best way to communicate with the kids back home? Besides email. Some way they can get in touch with me in case of emergency. How about a way for all of us to know whos who while we are there. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys. Maybe a meeting place on Saturday. Can't wait. I'm counting the days.

I live halfway between Stowe and Sugarbush in Waterbury Center. Where did you go in the summer? I grew up in NJ and we spent some of every summer there as well!
I'm concerned with the cell service too - I have Verizon and it's not even working on Nantucket where I am right now much less on the island. I have an aging mom who is in good health but I'm going to want to be able to touch base with her once in a while during my vacation and vice versa.
Where are you staying? Many of us are at L'petit Morne (sp?)

We are staying at Villa AMS in Camaruche. It is close to Lorient. We rented a Grand Vitara so if any one needs a ride? My family had a house in West Halifax, Vt. Just south of Wilmington. Exactly halfway between Brattleboro and Bennington. But recently we have been spending most of our time in Stowe and the surrounding area. Vermont is the only place thats ever felt like home. You are so lucky. My wife was sick for 2 years and passed last year. I'm finding it hard to get myself to go back up without her. This may be TMI but when I also pass, our children have been instructed to take our ashes and scatter them up in Stowe. My wife said by the pretty flowers but unfortunately, I never found out where that was. I told them anywhere would be fine. It's so beautiful up there. Maybe up by the Trapp family lodge overlooking the town.

I'm so sorry!! Trapps is probably one of the nicest spots way up at the top of the hill.
Funny, a handful of BNers are meeting in Stowe next weekend for Oktoberfest.
You'll come back when you're ready and the memories will be happy ones, but everyone has their own timetable for this kind of thing. In the meantime you have SBH to look forward to!
