Great news was starting to think we were going to have to try and jet ski it, glad i didn't pass thr rumor along to the wife
This was on SBHonline:

"The only thing that is sure is that after the big problem they had onboard the Voyager 2 on wednesday the 14th of October (they left st barth at 1700 and returned about 20 minutes later with 60 pax onboard including 46 day trippers that had come from st maarten for the day. They were not able to repair and abandonned the passengers on the pier - Gendarmes had to help them finding hotels rooms - they finally sent the voyager 1 that was broken down also and were able to leave the next day at 1215 back to st maarten). The big thing is that the French Marine Affaires were onboard and they have suspended Voyager 2 navigation permit. Voyager 1 permit has been terminated as well and they are presently operating on a special derogation valid until the 31st of October. The boat max speed now is 15 knots and it takes 2 hours from Marigot. This is not rumours, that is facts.
However, after that, nobody knows...
Rumours has it that because of the arrival of a fully licenced and up to date French flagged ship Affaires MAritimes will be demanding towards Voyager before they can resume operations. Will let you know when i know more."

I am so glad we decided to go with St Barts Commuter. We had the ferry booked and then I decided "not". So we took a hit on the cancellation fee of half the price and booked thru GC.
Now crossing fingers to make sure our flights all leave on time and our pilots don't get into heavy discussions or better yet decide to sleep.

Dave hope it all works out. You will all be ready for a drink!!!!

I ended up saying enough is enough (I used expletives instead), canceled the ferry and chartered an aircraft. New arrival time is 1715, hopefully enough time to stop by Le Select for Marius' speech, a quick Carib, and a scout out for the BN'ers!!! Like you, taking a big hit but feel it is worth it. Two extra hours on each side = 4 extra hours in Paradise!!

My Winair flight has changed once as well (earlier too) but since I'm coming in the day before it's OK.. However, I've been advised to call them a few days before to confirm everything.

Just so everyone is prepared....
From sbhonline

When I was there a little over a two weeks ago skeeters were about the worst I'd seen. As you said the island VERY lush and green. Our villa is up high with screens and typically a breeze but once I had 4 or so on me while I was working outside.
I used full bottle of the liquid OFF during the week...mainly with the day biters.

I almost bought the Repel Eucalyptus but did not. I would have had to order it online anyway. Just another item to add to my already overflowing 1 quart bag. :(
I guess we will take our chances walking to Columbier or when we are out and about. Skeeters like my feet, I don't know why and no, they do not smell. Maybe that's why??

I bought 2 bottles of it online and just picked up some Ben's wipes that contain DEET (though that's my last resort) The ones that bite in the early morning and at dusk can carry dengue fever so that's why I stocked up. Though Dave and Carol will tell you they've never had a problem. I have a friend who travels frequently to the Grenada area and he laughs when I tell him I'm concerned. I guess if you stay away from perfume and scented hair products etc it's not so bad

We usually get the mosquito burn coils at the Match across from the airport, we light two or three out on the deck and they work really well on the St. Barths mosquitoes during the evening. During the day, it is whichever repellent that you can stand the smell of.

I also feel if you keep up an adequate level of rum in your bloodstream they tend to stay away from you

I've actually heard that if you eat bananas it can attract them, beats me if it's true or not but I have a friend who swears by it. So no banana based drinks for me.

Just a reminder for when it is time to head home if one is passing through SXM and Princess Juliana airport. Print out your boarding pass while in St Barts for your flight back to the US, so you can stay in the secure area of Juliana and avoid the sometimes long lines at the airline check-in counters. Unfortunately, American Airlines does not allow one to pre-print international boarding passes.

I have been to the WinAir site online and can't find anywhere on it to reconfirm our flight the day before we leave . Do you know ? Can I have the WinAirs phone # I'm starting to stress out here LOL !!!

Thanks for the tip Greg wonder if the people from SBP will do this for us as we are not bringing a laptop . . . . .
