has anybody done this? I went to my first class yesterday and as I am very out of shape I was super nervous about it. But I've been working out for the past six months and doing the eliptical at least 4x per week. It paid off. I didn't get winded. I did get leg cramps.
This was sooo much fun. I will definitely do this again.

I love to spin. Be sure to buy yourself a pair of cycling shorts (padded..umm...delicate areas) and it will make your experience even more enjoyable!

I figured if I do this more then three times I'll buy the shorts. I had to stand up sometimes to ease the butt ache. And I have um other aches too today. Not too bad though.

I have taken a few spinning classes. The people there are spinners, not regular gym folks. The spinning class gave a great workout, but it hurt my butt, so I stick with the other cardio equipment and stay off the bikes.

You ride a stationary bike (usually in a gym) in a group setting. From what I hear you get an extremely good cardio workout from it, but its not the same as riding a road bike. I have heard that good spinners do not necessarily make great road cyclists.

I have a class once a week. It is a hell of a work out! The only complaint is that the seats on the bike not comfortable at all and it feels like I had my ass kicked (literllay) for two days after each work out.

NO. Haven't paid much attention to cycling lately, but I did SAG for the leukemia cycling team today.

I've done it and like it. Just remember, the first few classes will be the toughest.

Yesterday i felt great but today, two days post class and my calfs are so tight and sore. When I stand up I have to walk for three minutes in pain just to loosen things up. I've heard that a gel seat cover can do wonders for the sore butt thing. My one foot is sore too.
You do things like stand and pedal, increase gears to simulate hills. jumps which is going up and down, etc. There is good music, it's fast paced and you sweat alot. Lots of fun but my caffs are paying for it. I"m hoping that means my legs will get to looking good.

I would advise you get a gel seat if you know you're going to have a sore butt. I would also suggest getting cycling shoes. They will clip into the pedals and that could get rid of the soreness in your foot. Ask the instructor what type of clips are on the spinner cycles and take that to any cycle store and ask the staff at the store for the shoes with those types of clips. They could install the clips on those shoes. They would cost about $100 to $120 but well worth the cost. I've had my shoes for 5 years and the cost per class is probably now down to the single dollars range now.

I'm going to get the gel seat before the next class. I'm going to look in my closet to see if I have a less cushioned shoe. If I go to 4 classes and still like it then I"ll get the shoes. The pedals have a cage you slide your shoe into and it can be adjusted. I have seen some people with cycling shoes on. I've also seen people wear gloves which I'd give some thought to since I have carpal tunnel which I will probably have treated during my summer break this year.
This is all part of my get in shape to live a longer healthier life. It's also part of my stop being a chicken and try new things goal. I backed out of this class several times before I did it. The people who do it seem so intense.
