Margaritaville Retirement Village

Post by Bfan53again »

I jokingly referenced this idea I had in another thread and some other BNers thought it was an interesting concept. I said since JB's empire already includes stores, restaurants, apparel, footwear, frozen foods, tequila, beer, and rum why not have Margaritaville-licensed retirement communities around the world? Wouldn't this kind of be the "final" chapter in all things Parrothead?

And who would most of us rather spend our "golden years" with than other fans? The atmosphere would be like one big, never-ending parking lot tailgate party except there might be walkers and oxygen tanks to dodge rather than beachballs. The business slogan could be "Margaritaville Retirement - Dancing When We Go"......

I can see bingo and shuffleboard replaced by parking lot games. Tiki torches in the dinng halls. Radio Margaritaville playing 24/7.

Can anyone else suggest what such a place might be like? Hey, in today's world, it doesn't hurt to fantasize and get our collective minds off all the troubles of the world, right?

Let the Fin begin......
On most days I say: "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been...."
Sometimes I can only say: "There is no dumbass vaccine......"

If something or someone gets you down, just remember: "In a hundred years it all won’t matter.........."

We could have Fiber One pong and physical therapy could be cornhole games. Desserts would be jello shots (picture THAT). Oh, this could be a day-long thought process! As my daughter just said, assisted living places have yet to have to deal with the likes of the Boomers! We'll have to have swim-up bars in the therapy pool.

Our current retirement plan is to be driving concert to concert in our Winnebago (all parrothead themed.) Now of course, if our health got to be questionable and interferred with that plan this would be a great alternative.

It got to be somewhere warm with sand and palm trees.

Everyone can get together in the rec room on concert night. I know we'll all still be doing FINS in some form. Oh, and the rec room can be decorated with all kinds of JB stuff. We can call the rec room the Parrothead cave.

The facility should have a bus to take you to do your shopping and go out and eat if you do not have a vehicle. Of course one of the stops is the nearest Margaritaville cafe.

Just thought of another thing, all the staff must wear tropical print uniforms.

Look no further than The Villages at Lady lake Florida :D We spend a lot of time here, I even joined the Parrothead club here [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]
My sons thought it would be full of old wrinklies, far from it, all too busy having fun. So many bars and reataurants, we are working our way through them, slowley but surely [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif] Even our boys, who are 31 and 32 like to visit for a week or 2 now and again! Roll on retirement............

The possibilities boggle the mind!!!!! :pirate:  :D

JB could always do acoustic tours at each facility when he stops doing the "big shows"........of course, they'd have to start around 10 am!! :o

Margaritaville retirement community? I could retire their quite happily. It would have to be located somewhere warm with lots of beaches. We could all live in tiki huts. We need to have a huge parking lot where the tailgate party would be going on 24/7 complete with tiki bars and all of the games fit for tailgating. RadioMargaritaville and all kinds of tropical music would be playing nonstopped 24/7.

For those who might need a break from the parking lot atmosphere for a minute instead of having knitting classes, exercise classes, card games, or BINGO we could have classes where we would take our frozen concoction makers, and we could make all kinds of frozen concoctions that would help us hang on.

Well, on a little more serious note, after admitting my mom from her nursing home to the hospital for the second time in four weeks, I'M SO READY FOR MARGARITAVILLE RETIREMENT VILLAGE. Just hook up my IV to a frozen concoction maker and keep the rum flowing. Sorry, guys, a little exhausted.
