I burned all of my home movies, digital pictures and my iTunes library onto DVD's and store them at my parents house in case I leave the oven on one day.

I use the automated backup services at Mozy.com. I'm really bad about remembering to back things up, so I need something that will do it for me!

I also do periodic backups onto flash drives or CDs.

Try clicking on your own link and see how easy it is... The url gets lost with the "^" characters. And I don't mean this as a critique, just an observation.

Flash drives are cheap and easy...
unless you forget to use them.

Careful with optical media, they degrade in time, one report has them only lasting 5 years, better quality media will last longer but you should probably re-copy them every 2-3 years just to be safe.

As for Auntie, depending on just how much stuff you need to back up, you might want to look into an external hard drive. They're pretty cheap for a LOT of space, and some of them even have "one touch" back up solutions. You tell it one time what you need to back up, then everytime you need to back up your files, just push the button and it'll copy it for ya.

Flash drives are nice for longevity, but they are a lot smaller, if you don't have a lot of stuff to back up you can just copy/paste to a flash drive.

I use a 1 terabyte external harddrive and periodically run some of the one touch back up software which backs up my "my documents folder". For more important items, Like MS Money folders, I back those up almost every time I modify them which is very easy to do, also a one click while closing the program. You really should back up, it truly sucks when you have hard drive problems and lose those things you take for granted, trust me I speak from experience!

I have a Seagate 500 GB hard drive, which I'll use to store those items currently on my computer that I have no way to recover in case of disk crashes...

(Of course, stupid me first time I used it I backed up the entire hard drive including games that I haven't played in a long time and games that have their own installation CD's)
