I joined MySpace. It was fine/fun for a while. But kinda 'flat' after a while.
I joined Facebook. Have been enjoying it. It's more on 'real time', and have talked to, kept up with, friends and family I haven't been able to on a regular basis, some in years.
So between BN and Facebook, I just don't need/want to have another venue to keep up with people. Or to 'follow' anyone I really don't know.
Nothing I post here, or FB, is anything so private that I will be risk being hacked.

Stephanapoulous did an interview with McCain a week or so ago on Twitter, it was kind of interesting.

Now Steve Jobs has promised me a free 3rd Generation iPhone for pimping him and told me how to obtain it on June 8.
I no longer think it's the real Steve Jobs.

But it was pretty exciting while it lasted!

Maybe now you understand what I meant about not having any faith in such programs. I have nothing against anyone that wants to use them or likes them. I am not putting such programs or people that use them down. You can never know who is really on the recieving end. Because I don't use them or question them, does not mean others will or should not. It simply means I realize anyone could be on the recieving end, and they may or may not be, up to no good.
Anyone can claim to be anyone they want to be thought of, in such programs. That does not neccessarily make them who they claim to be, or who you might think you are talking with.
I honestly hope things work out for you and you actually get the item promised to you.

I find Twitter to be kinda sad
There's a whole big world out there, kids
and I can't believe how many seem happy to live in it ...only virtually

It's Jimmy. It's locked (not public) and he only allows people to follow him by request. I finally got approved after four days, but he did post that they were going to be away due to preparing for the Summerzcool tour.
I only suspected the Steve Jobs was a fake, because there were about 8 different Steve Jobs on there, pretending to be him. I also follow Ann Curry and Hoda Kotb, and they talk on the air about what they tweeted, so I know it's them. Like Hoda asked people Sunday night for their favorite quotes, then she read them on the Today Show Monday morning.
It's also good for following local and national news.

It's actually quite happy and fun. I'm out in the big world with my iPhone reading what Lance Armstrong's kids are doing (Pine Box Derby) and what how Demi Moore scared a papparazzo at a clothing store by trying to take his photo... In their words as it is happening! And my best friends in my hometown are reading about what I'm doing and commenting on it, or telling me about being quarrantined with sick children.
Anderson Cooper is on a jet to London... Ashton Cooper just hired Gary Busey and is ragging on him.... He just said today is the anniversary of the day he asked Demi to marry him, and she just said yes again. Dwight (from The Office) is having lunch today with the guy who plays Dexter.
I feel more connected to the whole big world than ever before. =]

For the doubters, here's a video Demi Moore just posted of a helicopter ride she and Ashton took yesterday or today. Not sure where:

I like it,
when I'm there. (But I'm on the forum or at FB more)
I've connected with a couple of peeps who either have (themselves) or are dealing with someone with NPH (the condition my Mom has), which has been helpful.
I'm more than willing to block someone who wants to follow me that I think is a spammer.
But I like getting updates from a variety of friends & other sources I've vetted.

Two questions.
1 Why the need to know as it happens? I guess I can see someone on the west typing out "...a mushroom cloud is heading east". That could be useful. Which brings me to.....
2 How accurate is "as it happens"? For example, who is the source? I don't see how on the spot twitting can be informative for 95 percent of the crap that happens on this planet. I would rather have the time to do research before transmitting off the cuff news.
I know you don't have to follow useless banter on Twitt. I'm just talking about the very brief thought process, if any, that goes into sending information out. Well, that can happen with any type of communication.

We had five bands of potential tornados coming through my town today, and one of them had a tornado in it. Our local weatherman kept twittering with updates, so that was helpful.
Also, Ann Curry tweeted when the Captain was captured and pirates shot, so I heard that first on Twitter. I used to get my news like that first on Buffett News, but Twitter is quicker. Anderson Cooper posts good links and blogs as soon as they are posted on CNN. NYTimes and WSJ are good sources too. Just feels good to stay informed and current. My hubby tweets from the daily paper so I can see what he is doing too and when local news is breaking.
And I love dawgfan's morning kick offs to start the day. Another female TV reporter tweets what she is covering before (fires, accidents) she even tapes the report. Then she tweets about her mom visiting and what games she's watching on the weekend. You just get inside people's lives a little bit at a time.
Ann Curry tweets a nightly sign-off when she goes to bed, here's tonights:
AnnCurry wrote: Night. "What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters...

AnnCurry wrote:...compared to what lies within us." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Something Ashton Kutcher just said:
aplusk wrote:My dad always said "I'll believe when I hear it from the horses mouth." twitter is the horses mouth. no more "well the news said..."

Something I need to know:

Sorry if I am pushing Twitter so much... It is just such a cool new phenom... phenononu...phenomenum --
thingy -- and it is weird that my hubby and I joined it separately on the same day without discussing it with each other ....
Get in now on the cusp of it, because it's going to get so big that it might crash and be no more. Or at least you can say, I remember when Twitter was new, and celebrities used to post things and reply to things you sent to them.

Twitter has actually been around for a while, I have a friend that's been using it for at least a couple of years but for whatever reason it's soared in popularity recently. Maybe things like this, Facebook and other social networking sites are what Warhol meant when he said in the future everyone would have their 15 minutes of fame.
