Any NON-handicapped person who parks in a handicap parking space because (in their words) they'll "only be there a few minutes", or because (again-in their words) "there are no other handicapped people around wanting that space".

Agreed especially when they get out of the car and walk fine and I'm either hobbling or using the crutches.
I also have an issue with a store that has 15 and there is only one car parked there.... a little over the top!

While I agree with you about non-handicapped people using handicapped parking spaces( just wrong), I have to say not all handicapped people have mobility handicaps. Even though they look and seem to be in perfect health they may not be. Chronic illnesses can be quite debilitating without being obvious!

ME! I need a total right hip replacement - it is not fun doing anything at times. I just buck up and deal with it, until time for surgery - with this all said, my left knee is not all that great! truly-sucks

Re: Pet Peeves
Some of my pet peeves are...
When people are too lazy to walk the shopping cart over to the cart corrale, and they leave it there just waiting to ding someones car.
when people dont use their blinker, and then proceed to cut me off, usually while talking on the phone.
when people blame their own BS on everyone else rather than taking responsibility for their own actions.
when people are rude, and feel as thought they are entitled to act that way.
and when people think that they know more about my job than I do.
and even worse than parking in the handicapped spot, parking in the NO PARKING FIRE LANE spot in front of the store. I always wonder, if I smash into the back of their car, and no one is even in it, is it their fault for leaving it there, or mine?? If I knew it was their fault, I might just smash it one day....

Re: Pet Peeves
definitely littering, once I guy threw a whole bag of McDonalds crap out the window at an intersection, I got out of my car, picked it up, knocked on his window and shoved it back into his car and told him that my neighborhood was not his personal garbage can!inked-parrotthead wrote:littering, including cigarette butts!!
Good thing it was a very busy intersection, or I coulda gotten myself into some real trouble...

I know in CT they have to publish it ahead of time in order to obtain the grant money that pays for the roadblocks. And they still manage to nab a bunch of people.lminor26 wrote:I guess for the same reason that police around here let local newspapers publish the locations of road blocks for DUI's around holidays.LIBuffettFan wrote:LIPH wrote:Did you see a week or so ago when the NYPD had a one day crackdown on talking on cell phones while driving? They gave out about 4000 tickets in one day. There was a quote from one guy who got a ticket - "They should give us a warning first." It's been against the law in NY for what, about 4 or 5 years now. That isn't enough of a warning?LIBuffettFan wrote:... on Long Island it's illegal to not use a hands free device with your cell phone while driving.
I don't know if you have seen these, but out on the parkways the NYS Police will roll out those portable signs to give drivers warnings that they will be doing a "Speed Enforcement Crackdown" during periods of time. Why do they feel the need to warn people that they are actually going to be enforcing the law. Some of what goes on in NY just blows my mind. With the cell phones, usually the only time people get tickets is when they are pulled over for something else and are still chatting on the phone when the officer gets up to the car, the same holds true for the seat belt laws.

Re: Pet Peeves
That's relegated by the number of total spaces in the lot. For every X number of spots there has to be Y number of handicap spots. The lot at the restaurant I work at is so small that legally we do not have to provide a handicap spot.
