Pet Peeves

I have this co-worker that always speaks in the third person, like when he sees me first thing in the morning:
"Well, how's Ed today?" Don't know why, it just ticks me off (despite my numerous comments about this annoying habit to him in the past, I might as well be talking to my cat).
Made me wonder: What are your pet peeves?????

Co-Worker is ALWAYS on the phone. Granted we all get personal calls at work - but one should try to limit them to one/two a day and under 5 minutes. She HAS to call her sons when she sees or reads something funny and she at least talks to her family (husband and 2 sons) at least a total of 5+ times a day. This is not only she calling but them calling the main phone and she cell phone that has a hideous country ring to it!!!!
Bothers me 1) this is a place of work 2) it is not my immedicate job to answer the phones, it is hers; I only back up as does everyone else. Not to mention her conversations are "uh uh uh, really.....lol...uh uh, okay I better get back to work" Yeah NO KIDDING or her reply to someone "no I'm just a work" agggghhhhhh
Sorry had a bad last two days and bad night....I'm only working until NOON today! *sigh*

It's nice to be able to vent! That is what friends are for, right?

yes, i agree, it is nice to vent.
My pet peeve is when people save seats in a cafeteria. I think it is rude. I teach in a middle school. I hate to see students doing this, and believe it or not, I have a coworker who also does this in the cafeteria.

I work retail and my biggest pet peeve is people who talk on their cell phones while I am trying to complete a transaction with them.....okay....I get it.....I am the lowly retail establishment help....but at least do me the respect of talking to me and looking me in the eye while I take your money.
I am purposely short and almost rude with people like that......while normally, I am very nice to our customers (and not JUST because I work on commission)!

People who chew gum, or anything else, with their mouth open. And from what I've seen the open mouth gum chewers are mostly women, mostly relatively young and a pretty good percentage of them are fairly attractive. But it's disgusting.

My pet peeve has to do with cell phones too, but with people who clearly don't know how to drive attempting to drive with a cell phone being held to their ear. These people drive me nuts because they completely lose touch with whats happening around them and oh yeah, here on Long Island it's illegal to not use a hands free device with your cell phone while driving. There is nothing as fun as sitting at a green light because the person in front if you is so lost in their conversation they didnt realize the light turned green a minute ago. Ahhhh for this thread, I feel better already!

Insisting that there is some sort of "law" regarding the correct "at rest" position for a toilet seat.
For Heaven's Sake, if it's up and you need it down, put it down.
If it's down and you need it up, put it up.
It's really not a complicated apparatus.
Oh, and if you decide not to look and "fall in", that sound you hear from me in the other room is about 1 part sympathy and 4 parts laughter.

I have one that drives me CRAZY!
At the drive through at the bank...when people don't have their deposits (or whatever) ready and have to get a slip and sit there
in the car to fill it out. GO INSIDE!!!!!!!

Did you see a week or so ago when the NYPD had a one day crackdown on talking on cell phones while driving? They gave out about 4000 tickets in one day. There was a quote from one guy who got a ticket - "They should give us a warning first." It's been against the law in NY for what, about 4 or 5 years now. That isn't enough of a warning?

One of the drive-thrus I use frequently has a running total up counting how many women vs men have their money ready when they pull to the window. It's a friendly battle my husband and I have frequently--I ALWAYS have my money ready, he pulls up and gets in his pocket to get the money, then has to count it out. hehehe.

My experience is that peeves really don't make very good pets. They just seem to mess up everything they come in contact with, wake you up in the middle of night for no apparent reason and generally just cause more upset than they're worth. You're better off with a goldfish.

You obviously grew up with all boys in your family......my mother would have taught you better, or you would have been forced to use the back yard at her house

I don't know if you have seen these, but out on the parkways the NYS Police will roll out those portable signs to give drivers warnings that they will be doing a "Speed Enforcement Crackdown" during periods of time. Why do they feel the need to warn people that they are actually going to be enforcing the law. Some of what goes on in NY just blows my mind. With the cell phones, usually the only time people get tickets is when they are pulled over for something else and are still chatting on the phone when the officer gets up to the car, the same holds true for the seat belt laws.

I guess for the same reason that police around here let local newspapers publish the locations of road blocks for DUI's around holidays.
