Favorite/least favorite Buffett album covers.
Okay, so what are some of your favorite and least favorite JB album covers?
I particularly like the covers for "Barometer Soup" and "Banana Wind". The "BW" cover makes me feel like I'm on an island in the middle of a "banana wind", with the tops of the trees swaying. The "BS" cover is cool because it's so "nautical". I also like the "Changes in Latitude" cover for much the same reason.
I like the original covers of "Songs You Know by Heart" (don't know why they changed that one) and "Fruitcakes" (with the cut out letters, which my copy unfortunately does NOT have).
I don't care for the cover of "One Particular Harbour".
Thoughts?

One of my favorites is Havana Daydreaming and another is A1A which says it all with the beach, a chair and a cold beer.
My least favorite would have to Coconut Telegraph, to bland for a Buffett cover.

The original SYKBH had Jimmy strumming on the guitar while reclining in a hammock... (I don't care for the "yellow album" look.
So I guess my favorite and least point to the same album

Re: Favorite/least favorite Buffett album covers.
Without a doubt, hands down... although t here are some truly great ones..
The one that I feel stands out was Living and Dying in 3/4 Time!
The beat up, sunken shrimp boat named "Good Luck" with Buffett on the bow was true, comical, and real. This comes from an era that pre-dated all of the corporate B/S. It comes from the day that he would tell dirty jokes on stage, as he does on the My Friend Dave recording at phlockers gone wild dot net. It comes from an era where he had to play to earn his meal and keep a roof over his head and a very modest roof at that. It really said that at any moment he could go under, but if he did, he'd go down laughing and say "F#@% all this S^!#!". It was very honest and funny at the same time.
Today, he could never put out a record with a cover like this. The corporate big wigs wouldn't go along with it. An old, beat up, sunken Shrimper with Buffet sitting on the exposed bow dressed in an old, worn out T shirt, and torn up cut-offs? No, they wouldn't have any of that.
Buffett wouldn't do it either because 30+ years later, it just wouldn't be honest.
But those are my reasons and that's my vote! Thanks!

Buffett has always struck me as being like Waylon in that regard, doing his own thing with music (and album covers), handing the execs the record, saying "This is what you get", and telling them to go **** themselves if they don't like it.
Damn, I miss Waylon!

Have a lot of favorites, but if I had to pick one, it would be the original cover of SYKBH. As for worst cover, it's also SYKBH, but the yellow version. Other albums on the least favorite list.....Fruitcakes, Hot Water and Beach house on the Moon.
Personally, his best album covers were Living and dying....., White Sport Coat...., A1A, Banana Wind, Barometer Soup.

I don't really like or dislike any of them, but "Fruitcakes" looks like somebody at the record company said, "Oh, crap! The album is due tomorrow and we still don't have a cover! Quick, let's throw something together without putting any thought into it!" (They use a lot of exclamation points at record companies, evidently.)bestseller92 wrote:Okay, so what are some of your favorite and least favorite JB album covers?

Re: Favorite/least favorite Buffett album covers.
Personally I like the feel/mood of FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD. Especially the back cover.
Re: Favorite/least favorite Buffett album covers.
Worst LP cover: Last Mango In Paris
Best LP cover:
Not sure. I've always loved Barometer Soup and Banana Wind as far as the recent covers. The original cover for Far Side Of The World would have been much better than the one that came out.
1980s - Floridays and Hot Water are good.
1970s - A1A, Havana Daydreamin' and Volcano.
I think A1A epitomises Jimmy Buffett. But so does Barometer Soup because of the nautical theme to it. And Banana Wind is good even though it's palm trees and not banana plants.

Re: Favorite/least favorite Buffett album covers.
I don't know if I have a "worst" choice.
I suppose if I had to pick one, it would PROBABLY be "Off To See the Lizard." (Although I LOVE the songs on that one).
BEST?
HMMMMM.
Maybe Christmas Island, Volcano, Banana Wind, or Barometer Soup.

Living and dying in 3/4 time is my favorite cover . If I may stray a bit "A WHITE SPORTCOAT AND A PINK CRUSTACEON" is my favorite album title. Thanks Marty Robbins.
