Do You Have a "Best Day"?

Something recent, or forever ago, that you can call your Best Day?

I admit I've had a lot of great days, but I think my best day would be the day that E and I got married in 2007. 8) 8) :D :D

Followed closely by our engagement, and my son being born. :D

The three days my boys were born, of course.

But beyond that, the day I graduated from college and was commissioned as a naval officer.

The day I climbed to the top of the mast aboard the USCGC BARQUE EAGLE, at sea, was a good one, too. :D

I have a top 5.

But I can't disclose them all here...

Wedding is on there.
So is Elena's birth.

Most of the rest involve disclosure of personal info that I can't share. Or nudity. Or both.

The day ABQKeet was born ... on my 27th birthday. Very special.
When ABQKeet was small, I took him to an amusement park. He got overheated and threw up, but bounced right back and said, "Mama, I'm just so happy to be here."
My phirst date with Mr. Mathews.
A day in Monterey with Mr. Mathews.
The Jimmy Buffett Show at Starplex in 2002 (I think). ABQKeet knows why!

Great philosophical question.

I married the woman of my dreams and had two wonderful grown boys. (Is marriage and kids a given as Best Days?) Mrs. TR and I decided to take a driving vacation from NO CAL to Jackson Hole, WY and get some quality time together. At this time we were knocking on our 25th anniversary, probably somewhere around 22 or 23 years……. I dunno  I took her to a place just outside of Yellowstone to check out some amazing fall color in the Rocky Mountains and I was hoping for some hungry trout. Mrs. TR saw a road sign we were only 45 or there about miles from Old Faithful. It’s the end of October and 95% of the park is closed. I was ready to head back to Jackson Hole and she decided, “I’m this close to Old Faithful, we’re gonna see Old Faithful.” So I did the proper guy thing and slept while she drove into Yellowstone and Old Faithful. I promise you when you wake up from a good nap and see steam coming out of the ground along with giant elk, moose and Buffalo… you sort of freak out just a tad. We saw Old Faithful do its thing and she insisted I fish the Fire Hole river while we were there. It was pretty cold and one of the first snows of the season was falling. I found a place to park along the river and changed into my waders and rigged up my fly rod. Even though she was pretty cold, Mrs. TR insisted she wanted to watch. So, I’m standing in one of the most famous fly fishing rivers in the Western United States, a blessed man with a wonderful family, the fall colors were truly amazing, it’s snowing outside and the elk are bugling in the background and I caught about 8 cutthroats on a dry fly. That was a pretty good day.

I don't want to over think this but most of what I consider my great days I feel were years ago, when I was living a life that was so not the life I'm living now, and that bothers me. To that end, I am trying to find a new path in this world that lets every day be a great day.

I'm not married and don't have any kids, so ...

Any of the days I was doing volunteer work after September 11, pick one.

Jack honey, we all hope you find it. (((Jack)))
Larry, this sounds odd but how lucky were you to get to help out there? That would indeed be a "best day"

For me, no kids either so..

Sitting on the beach in KW last Nov listening to Scott Kirby and waiting for my mango daquiris in the sun is definitely one.
The ones further back mostly involve someone I work hard to not think about anymore. :(

But I'm looking forward to all my FUTURE "best days"!!!

The day my daughter was born followed closely by my wedding day. The day my last (dead end) job went out of business should probably be a runner-up because it made me move on with my life although it sure sucked at the time.

The day my son was born.

The day I walked away from an caustic/abusive relationship and didn't look back.

The day Don proposed.

The day we got married.

The day I talked Don into letting me get a dog - and we got her.

and I'm looking forward to what I know will be another best day - The day we move back to Texas!!!!

I'm sure you all remember the movie the Perfect Storm, well, the waves off of LBI were about 15-20 feet and we couldn't paddle through them at any of our local surf spots so my friend and I decided to drive up to the Barnegat Lighthouse, we paddled through the inlet out to the lineup and caught perfect lefts that went for aprox. 1/4 mile down the beach. After each wave we had to get out of the water and walk back to the inlet and paddle out again we did this that entire day it was the very best day of surf I ever rode.

Other best days, when the keets were born of course :D

The days my nephew and niece were born...the lights of my life.

The day I held 2 koalas in Australia.

And the day I paddled my kayak out into the middle of Haro Strait and was surrounded by a pod of killer whales. Magic!

And looking forward to more best days!
