The river looked much wider
Than it ever seemed before
Even though we’d crossed
A hundred times or more
We were scared
So we dared each other
You first…
And I’ll be right behind you
You first
I’ll meet you on the other side
The nature of the hero
Requires a leap of faith
You find out what you’re made of
When it’s your time to say
You first…
The chopper drops the ladder
In the middle of the war
Sergeant says there’s only room
For just one more
Two wounded brothers
And one says to the other
You first…
And I’ll be right behind you
You first
I’ll meet you on the other side
The nature of the hero
Requires a leap of faith
You find out what you’re made of
When it’s your time to say
You first…
Now I’m standing over you
All these years that we’ve been through
I wish it could be me
I never thought that it might be
You first….
But I’ll be right behind you
You first…
I’ll meet you on the other side
You always were my hero
And here’s my leap of faith
You find out what you’re made of
When it’s your time to say
You first…

I LOVE THAT SONG!!!! Thanx Jen for sharing that link, and lyrics.
Yep, that was pretty much my reaction, too!
Dambed allergies....
Mine too...
Wow. Just wow.
Reminds me of when I saw Mac in ATL with the gang. I can't even remember what song it was now, but the words just hit too close to home. I had flown to ATL for a family crisis, and in doing so was missing the funeral for my Mom's best friend whom I'd known all my life. The show was a gift from Steve to make a rough trip a little better. Mac started singing and I started bawling. Thank goodness for great friends who understood. ((((Steve, Bill, Jim, Barb, Rick and Coley))))

Miss ya we do the three of us
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.
I admit I was a little late jumping on the Mac McAnally bandwagon. I had even blogged that I’d never heard of him, despite his decades in the music business, until Kenny Chesney lured this singer/songwriter into a duet on “Down the Road.”
I thought McAnally was pretty good then. But now? Now I am not only on that bandwagon, I am driving it. I just listened to his new single, “You First,” and thought to myself, “Now this is a country song.” It’s quiet with very sparse music. So instead of layers and layers of guitars filling the space, it’s the story of a man who finds out what he’s made of every time he has to say, “You first.” And that voice. That perfect haunting voice. It’s somewhere between Keith Whitley and Dan Fogelberg, God rest their souls.
With all due respect, she's gonna have to get in a long line to drive this bandwagon.....

That is ANOTHER great song from Mac! Thanks for sharing.
So I keep seeing CBS plugging the country music awards show and Kenny Chesney's appearance ... will he be singing and, more importantly, will Mac be singing with him?
