I don't know if these F**** are popping up more often, or if we just hear about them more often. (Remember: in my day, news didn't travel at the speed of light).
I just wish the crazies would get help (and the evil people would go away).

In the old days, if someone wanted to kill themselves they jumped off a bridge or used a gun, once. Now they feel the need to take innocents with them. :-? :-?

it's a quote for what some people would think is more important than this, but it is the same truth:

ALL GAVE SOME,
SOME GAVE ALL.

There's nothing more important than sacrificing your life for your fellow man, no matter in what capacity...

Well said, Jack.

A tragedy that is beyond words or reason...... [smilie=unhappy-angel.gif]

Prayers to the slain officers, their families, and friends.

Next time you see a police officer (or a fire fighter or a person in the military), thank them for what they do.........

This is all that was on tv yesterday. The whack job, yes whack job, was military and according to his friend did not like our government and felt it was all screwed up. why would you go work for the gov't?

Friday I bowled with a freind who is a pittsburgh cop. Prayed all day it was not him. He was home safe. But I wonder if one of them was a school friends brother.

Thoughts and prayers to the families. The shooter may he find solitude within bars and deathrow. Sorry this whole thing should have never gone as far as it did!

Former military, and only for a few weeks. This guy obviously serious problems, and the Marine Corps got rid of him quickly.
Records indicate that Mr. Poplawski was dishonorably discharged from the corps during basic training.

A dishonorable discharge is the equivalent of a felony conviction and would be a little odd without jail time attached. The article may be confusing it with a discharge under other-than-honorable conditions, which is administrative in nature. In any case, the Marine Corps recognized an incompatibility and showed this man the door.

My heart goes out to the families of the officers.

I know you are voicing your opinions and heartfelt saddness...but there is no correction in my words;and not sure if that is what you were doing.(I do not mean to cause/seem to cause friction, just what happened really p***-me off)

go to http://www.wtae.com (local tv) they are on the air for another hour and have info, as well as what Wino posted. Here is or Sunday paper http://www.post-gazette.com/

So in fact he was let go from the military...a question then goes to his mother. If she knew he was that disturbed, did she not to try to do more for him. YES I know you have to accept help before getting it.... The Girlfriend had a PFA on him, or something to that effect. This should be all red flags and there should be some kind of computer system that when this name is called in and HUGE red flag must go up.

No. The "whack job" was not military.

He was dishonorably discharged during recruit training three years ago. He never became a Marine. He might not have even fired a weapon before he was removed from training.

If Poplawski was afraid that someone was going to take his firearms, it is not because the government is picking on him, it is because he never should have had them in the first place. Both a dishonorable discharge and a court protective order prohibit possession of a firearm.

As to why any of us would work for the government? There are as many potential answers as there are government employees.
