(I'm on the Do Not Call registry, and they should *not* be calling me.)
I get those too.. and they are not from my c/c company..
as THEY identify themselves

It is absolutely incredible the amound of mail/unsolicited phone calls are received expecially by the elderly...

My hubby's aunt is not in good shape and we have been visiting and taking her mail home with us to go through. She had given to some charities and the amount of soliciations is unbelievable!!! There are scare tactics..like...do you really want a communist/socialist to be elected as Pres of the US? (I am not an Obamo fan but I could not believe the mail this lady in her 80's was getting from the "Christian" coaltions..." . She has recieved phone calls directing her to send checks to "collect her lottery winnings"...and "if you don't send a check now, you may be evicted..." unbelievable.

Hubby took a phone call proporting to be a breast cancer charity..he said "my wife is in bed after having lost both breasts to cancer"...he told me..I don't think they will be calling back.

Now..my response is...sorry..I really cannot afford to send any funds or I will not be able to put food on the table this week....many don't seem to care!!

Basically...HANG UP....

My favroites are the ones who call to cell cemetery plots. A friend of mine told them that they didn't need one because Jesus was coming back before they died. :D

Although I havent gotten these calls recently, I was getting them
several times daily on both cell and home. Im on the DNC list w/
both #'s. What really peeves me is that alot of the times when given
the option to "be taken off the list" press ____ # and then the line
hangs up w/ fast busy signal - like your # isnt going to be removed!!
I work for an emergency call center and we get them @ work. I personally placed all of our incoming #'s on the DNC list and when I tell the operator
who they are calling and ask to be taken off they hang up [smilie=hate.gif]
On a funny note...I had a few drinks one night when I got a call on my cell.
Well I had some time and decided to have some fun, I played their silly game
making up my veh type, year, mileage, etc and was put through to a "warranty specialist". She asked for my vin #, told her I had to go to my
car to get it and could she wait a moment? She of course said yes so I put
my phone on mute, sat it down and continued to drink for about 25 min.
Thinking she had hung up, I unmuted the phone - she was still there!!
I then told her I really wasnt interested the whole time and wanted to waste
her time like they wasted mine w/ all of the phone calls. She was soooo mad
she started stuttering...I laughed hysterically and asked for my # to be removed as I am on the DNC list and opened a beer into the phone as I hung up [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
You're only as young as you are right now. Make the best of it!

Get them a lot. The same damn one. I actually laughed and talked to someone. They said that they're "selling". I said I'm never gonna buy so stop calling. They finally stopped calling.

Some child leukemia thing called yesterday. I saw the funny number, picked the phone up, waited 5 seconds, said hello, waited 5 more seconds, the person said something, 'Hi I'm calling from the National Child Leukemia blah blah blah' and I simply asked You didn't even hear me say hello, right? 'No.' Stop calling here.

That's all the land line is good for anymore. I never get this crap on my sky line.

I've gotten buttloads of warranty calls...on my cellphone number.
I don't answer and they usually leave a message..."press 1, etc." which WON'T work from voice mail. Idiots. [smilie=asa.gif]
If I ever answer one I am going to ask if my Flux Capacitor is covered. :pirate:

Funny this came up when it did-I got a thing in the mail today about my husband's car warranty. It had his name spelled wrong, the same way it was spelled wrong on a credit card a while ago. It's from the "Key Protection Group" in Pompano Beach Florida. Bulk postage permit from St. Louis, MO. The offer expires on 04/06/09. Hey-that's today!

My Mom passed away about 2 1/2 years ago. Of course, there was an obit in the paper. Between the obit being published and the funeral, I received a bill from the "headstone" dudes addressed to me at my home. All I had to do was to fill in her date of birth and death and a check for some outrageous amount and the stone would be taken care of...They made it sound like I had already contracted with them to do this. really pi**ed me off!!
