Were Philo Beddoe and Orville brothers or just friends?
They both call Ruth Gordon "Ma", but Philo introduces Orville as "my friend".
We had a long discussion about this last night at work and came to the conclusion that Mrs. Beddoe might have taken Orville in at an early age, and become "like a mother" to him.
