Destin Beachfront
Anybody have reccomendations for a place for my wife and I to stay at for a week in Destin? We want a room with a beachfront balcony and a good pool.

Re: Destin Beachfront
There are quite a few choices here in Destin but if we had a to suggest one particular place, we would have to recommend The Majestic Sun. http://www.majesticsuncondos.com/
It's actually located in Miramar Beach, which is a "suburb" of Destin. There are many choices for restaurants and bars to check out, plus Margaritaville Panama City is located about 30-35 minutes away. Here's a few suggestions:
http://www.pompano-joes.com/ (ask for Big Ed or Linda Lou or Pete behind the bar)
http://direct.where2getit.com/cwc/apps/ ... e=moreinfo (say hello to James, Micah or Andrea behind the bar or to Scott the manager)
http://www.silversandsoutlet.com/ (great shopping at the world's largest outlet store)
http://www.destincommons.com/component/ ... /Itemid,1/ (another great shopping experience with Hard Rock Cafe and others)
http://www.boathouseoysterbar.com/aboutus.htm (authentic, old school harbor restaurant)
http://www.hogsbreath.com/destin/ (a must do for local entertainment)
There are many other places to chose from. We have lived here 16 years so PM us if you have any questions.

Maravilla Condos....relatively cheap. Great view. The street seperates you from the beach though, but there is nothing in between. Not a busy part of town. Access from the beach road and the main drag. Down near the Bass Pro Shop.
There's a ton of good restaurants. My fave may be down by thye Aquarium. I forget the name, but it's right next door and sits on the beach.
One of the reasons I like Destin so much is because of the food in the area.
If you like deep sea fishing, check out Moody's. Cheapest. They have a pool for the biggest fish.

Re: Destin Beachfront
We wanted to update you on a couple of new places down on the Destin Harbor where the fishing fleet docks. We spent Friday afternoon strolling the docks between AJ's and The Boathouse. The places listed below are new and it was our first visit. We fell in love with both.
http://www.destinseafood.com/ (Dewey Destin has opened a new place called Dewey Destin's on the Harbor)
http://events.newsherald.com/destin-fl/ ... fe-and-bar (this place is on the water because its a converted paddle wheel boat. Great bar upstairs. Happy hour 4-7 with $2 longnecks and $3 cocktails plus $1 PBR longnecks all day long)
It makes a nice bar crawl on the harbor.

Re: Destin Beachfront
I like McGuire's Irish Pub (order an "Irish Wake"...after drinking one, you'll want to use the poles near the bar to dance).
And the Back Porch. And breakfast at Another Broken Egg...WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're going down May 11-16 and are staying at a place we found on www.vrbo.com for $90 a night at a nice place ON the beach. It's hard to find cheap one-bedroom condos. Two and three bedrooms are better values, if you're going with family and there are more of those than one-bedroom condos. When going with family, we stay at Sterling Shores (VERY nice, has a large lagoon style pool and one pool next to the beach...across from the Back Porch).

Another Broken Egg has moved from its original harbor location to an out parcel near the Destin Winn-Dixie. Same great food and service. Matter of fact they won the local Wing Ding Championship this past weekend at The 21st Annual Great Southern Gumbo Cook Off and Wing Ding Championship held at Sandestin. My gumbo took second place.Parrothead27330 wrote:We liked the Pelican beach. You must have breakfast at Another Broken Egg Café - Destin

Re: Destin Beachfront
There is also another "Another Broken Egg" inside of Sandestin Village, which is a great spot with a little bit of everything. I live about 30 minutes from there and the Marlin Grill, inside Sandestin, is my favorite restaurant here in the panhandle. The new Harbor Walk Village area is nice too, right next to AJ's and there are rental condos with parking and boat slips now too and a gorgeous pool overlooking the water. Plus you are right next to crab island; a very fun sand bar bustling every weekend, complete with bands and pizza boats!!
