What was your first-ever JB record purchase?
Mine was back in 1985. I was 17, and I liked the single "If the Phone Doesn't Ring", which was getting play on country radio then (I think it made it to the top 20 on the country charts), so I bought "Last Mango in Paris" on cassette. (Yes, I still have it, and it still has the "30 Day Return" sticker that they used to put on tapes at K-Mart. Our local K-Mart is long gone, but I still have the tape.) A short while later I bought "Songs You Know by Heart".

You Had To Be There - on vinyl. I've also owned (and wore out) two sets on cassette and now on CD.

Compared to all of you guys I'm a new fan, just 5 years into it. Someone suggested "Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays" to me, but there have been PLENTY of others since then.

Songs You Know By Heart was my first purchase. I liked the song Margaritaville. I have bought everything he put out since Songs You Know... I do own a couple of earlier ones like You Had To Be There, and Changes In Latitudes.

The first one I got from a friend was Live! Feeding Frenzy. The first one I bought was the Yellow Album and it went from there.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Re: What was your first-ever JB record purchase?
My first was Feeding Frenzy. Tom got it for me for Christmas....I had just requested "Something Buffett" after a trip to the Caribbean and hearing about Jimmy everywhere we went.
After getting the CD I was cruising Ebay and ran into PHJIM selling some Buffett stuff. While corresponding with him after the purchase, he invited me to come visit his newly created discussion board. I had never heard of a discussion board and came over to check it out. After lurking for the summer, I joined in September....
I'm not sure I ever told him how much that little purchase/invite changed my life. I have a whole new set of friends, have traveled places specifically to meet with people from this board and spend a significant amount of time almost every day keeping up with the lives of those he connected me to. Thanks Jim!

the yellow cassette. It was like crack. Inside of about two or three years (this was in '91) I owned everything he had released.

Re: What was your first-ever JB record purchase?
My mom picked up a copy of Songs You Know by Heart when I was 11 or 12. In quick succession, I then went out and bought White Sport Coat, Banana Wind, Beach House on the Moon, and Fruitcakes...
"I need to start growing up," I thought to myself the other day, as I sat in my pillow fort.

and someone gave me a cassette tape of it that winter, too.
Have bought most of the new CD albums since 2003, and have filled in the gaps a little, with Christmas album, downloads of shows, both current and very old.
