Parents...Mixed CD help!
Hey, everyone!
Elena has officially started her Parrothead-ism.
I have the CD Fruitcakes in the car, and she constantly asks for 3 songs...
"Muffett"....which was her first favorite, and still means "Delany Talks To Statues" (Or Elena if I'm singing it!)
"Pock Lips"....Apocalypso
"Other Muffett"...which is Lone Palm
She'll dance and sing to others but doesn't identify them yet.
Anyhow, Peggy wants a copy for her car, and I'd like to get some variety into mine.
So I have decided to make a couple of copies of a mixed Buffett CD. The songs listed above will be on the CD, plus a couple of others from Fruitcakes that she has responded to.
I'm looking for some parental advice on songs that their little Keets have enjoyed....

Re: Parents...Mixed CD help!
I made 2 CDs for my niece and nephew several years ago, they still request them when they're in the car. For some reason they really were drawn to Sail On Sailor, they'd listen to it (and sing along) over and over. And of course Cheeseburger...because they knew what cheeseburgers were and they thought it was funny. It was the first Buffett song I ever sang to them to comfort them during one of ATLs famous thunderstorms, so while it's a skipable song for me, I play it for them. They liked everything I put on the CDs, and I just made sure to pick "clean" songs.

Ditto on Volcano. I didn't think I played it often enough for them to notice. But a few years ago we were in St. Augustine, walking along (I swear) A1A, when my then four-year-old broke into "I don't know." When he but the "Mr. Utley" in at the right time, my hubby just shook his head!
They also love Cheeseburger and Coast of Carolina.
And don't forget the Christmas CD!

Why not play what you have ask her if she likes the songs and put on the disk what she likes. Let her choose her songs.

Re: Parents...Mixed CD help!
I lived with my brother when I went thru my divorce, and babysat my niece a lot. I started her on the road to being a PH when she was an infant. When she couldn't sleep, I'd put her in her car seat and drive around the city listening to SYKBH. To this day she loves the entire CD, but her all time favorite song is CIP.
She also loves Jolly Mon Sing, Volcano, Floridays and Hula Girl at Heart.
Every time I go to a concert, I call her and let her listen to CIP "live"....even though she's at home listening to it on RM
. It's a big deal for her that her "Uncle Chris" is at the JB show, and she used to bring in the concert T's I've gotten her for "show and tell". My brother has told me that her teachers got a kick out of hearing about it.
She's 8 now, and when Hannah asked her father when I could take her to a concert, he said when one of you grows up

Steven's too - but then he also liked WDWGDAS (I know bad mommy bad mommy). When I was at his apt for the Frisco show we laughed about how I told him it was about people getting drunk and screwing screws into boards and how he was NEVER to sing it at day care.pbans wrote:That was Caitlin's fav when she was little.......buffettbride wrote:My kiddos always dug Volcano.

Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
Re: Parents...Mixed CD help!
my kids were always drawn to off to see the lizard and pascagoula run. they would sing the chorus while we drove and sometimes i'd have to play it over and over again(like i really minded that!). they are 11 and 12 now and listen to all the buffett they can get their hands on, but those are the 2 i remember the most from when they were little!
