Last chance to add your name to the summer book swap
if everybody posts their name I'll print them up and pick a name for each person. You then get that person's address, pick a used book and send it to them. We can then discuss what we're reading and what we think of it.
It can be random books or each person can list what they like to read. It would be neat either way.

Count me in.
Question though — are we talking 'current' books, or can they be oldies but goodies?

They can be anything you think the person you are sending it to would enjoy. The neat thing is you might read something you would never have considered before.Bicycle Bill wrote:Count me in.

So would it be better if we don't tell what we like or should we give the person some hints about what we read?Y-NO-9-O wrote:That's what I am looking forward to.OceanCityGirl wrote:They can be anything you think the person you are sending it to would enjoy. Re: Who would like to take part in a summer book swap
It's your party but it would probably be best if we found out what authors and types of books the other person reads. If someone sent me Danielle Steel or sci-fi fantasy it would probably go directly into the yard-sale box. But if the person knew I liked mysteries and Hiaasen-esque authors then I might be turned on to a new author. Once you get your list of swappers, then a quick PM of a list of currently read authors could be sent to the person to guide them.

Yes you are right. Those are actually the two types of books I could never read either. No romance, no sci-fi. I would probably try almost anything else.Y-NO-9-O wrote:It's your party but it would probably be best if we found out what authors and types of books the other person reads. I'm going to leave this up for a week. I'd like to get at least ten people to swap.

Re: Who would like to take part in a summer book swap
I need to start reading again. I used to read constantly and haven't picked up a book in a long time.
This could be just what I need.
Count me in please.

Re: Last chance to add your name to the summer book swap
I'd be in. I'm a big fan of Florida mysteries, though I'm not averse to other mystery/thrillers, especially those with a regular protagonist so that I can read the whole series. I've read most RWW (and Carl Ramm/Randy Striker), Tim Dorsey, SV Date, all of Tom Corcoran's books, most Hiaasen and a few others in the Florida genre. I'm currently reading James Lee Burke. I have kept just about every book I've ever read, so I'd be willing to pass some on, as I'm actually thinking about thinning the herd of more than 1400 books.

Re: Last chance to add your name to the summer book swap
I was giving this a bit more thought and maybe if we just posted the last book we read and if anyone is interested in reading it. Occurred to me the other day after I finished my last book "Sail"
Sort of state I just finished " " it's about etc... and then first one to post "please send it to me", again this is your show but I thought it was a decent idea...

Works for me.
Just finished American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld. Follows the life of a midwestern woman bron in the 1940's who marries the fun-loving son of a powerful Republican family who ultimately becomes president. It is a thinly veiled description of Laura Bush.
It was named one of the tope ten books of the year by Time, People and Entertainment Weekly. It was entertaining and engaging. NOT A ROMANCE NOVEL. Great beach read.
