Day 2 of being non-smokers. Be strong! We are here for you. How's it going? Give us an update.
Found this website: http://quitsmoking.about.com/ Some very good info here including:

At 20 minutes after quitting:
Blood pressure decreases
Pulse rate drops
Body temperature of hands and feet increases.

At 8 hours:
Carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal
Oxygen level in blood increases to normal

At 24 hours:
Chance of a heart attack decreases

At 48 hours:
nerve endings begin regrowth
ability to smell and taste improves

The patches went on just before bed last night. :D

I'm at work and haven't talked to Connie yet but as for me I can't believe I'm not jonesing for a smoke yet.

A little backround: I actually used the patches the first year they were made available by prescription. (I was the first person my Doctor prescribed them for) and was off cigarettes for 15 months until I got STOOOOOOOPID and picked up cigars again.

We are gonna make it.

Take the amount of money you spend on cigarettes per month and multiply it out to a year. That's how much money you could be saving (by switching to Geico...... sorry couldn't resist). That should help you quit too.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Just got a call from Connie. Her first words were, "these aren't nicotine patches they're sleep ACID patches. She had some wild a$$ dreams last night. :D

My dreams were rather normal, I feel cheated. :pirate:

5 hours and no cigarette!!!! Some of you that have never smoked may think WTF but I was one of those smokers that had a cigarette in my mouth every morning as soon as my feet hit the floor. I've had someone with me today smoking in my truck and one of the Winnebago guys just walked in the house with a cigarette. Not that I didn't think about it but was relatively easy to put it aside and not pick up a cigarette. So far so good!!!

Hubby and I used the patch to stop on January 2, 2007 (NEVER try to stop on January 1st!!). The first mistake I made was to start with a patch that was the strongest. I smoked at least a pack a day and I got sick as a dog from the strongest patch (dizzy, sick to my stomach, etc). Once I switched to the next lowest, I was fine. I only used them about 2 - 3 weeks and I was done...hopefully...FOREVER.....this time.

Hubby needed the stronger patch, but also only used them 2-3 weeks. I cannot believe we have not smoked for almost 2 1/2 years. We both stopped for long periods of time before and wound up (for various reasons!) starting again.

The most important thing I learned is this...I can never have just one smoke. If I do that, I will be back on them again.

Best of luck and congrats!!! You have already beat the hardest part....the first step!

Hang in there, and remember it's going to be a long road so break it into manageable bits. Taking it one day at a time is an old phrase but it works.
Heck, if it gets to that point, you'll succeed even if you take it just one hour at a time!! So long as you're constantly moving forward.....you're getting someplace.

Connies dreams continue......
When I was getting ready to go to work this morning she woke up and asked me if I was mad at her or something. I asked what that was all about and she told me she dreamed I moved an oriental mail order bride in with us in her dream. :o

My dreams continue to be rather pedestrian in nature...........

I have tried it all. Chantix, Patch, Gum. None of it work.
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.
