I know I am going to get flack for this but here it goes anyway.
I was trying not to slam our new president so soon but I just saw this on-line and thought wow the economy must really not be as bad as they say if Mrs. Obama is wearing $540 sneakers (WTF ). Actually the biggest outrage should be that she wore them to a D.C. food bank. This administration is spending BILLIONS like it's no big deal and telling us all that it is the only way to save everything but with the $300,000+ photo op of Air force One over NYC and these sneakers it looks like the White House is not cutting back at all.

Nobody got upset when Mr. Obama bowed to the saudi prince, or when he had a good time with Chavez or when he ran around the world apologizing for America being great or for the $300k flyby or for the continued attempts to further socialize america, why are you so bothered that her shoes didn't match her sweater.
As the family's primary dog walker, Michelle clearly requires comfortable footwear.
"I got up at 5:15 in the morning to walk my puppy," she joked Thursday. "That's how my day starts. Even though the kids are supposed to do a lot of the work, I'm still up at 5:15 a.m. taking my dog out."

on AM talk radio catering to the 24% of the population still holding the belief that Shrub was the closest thing to the second coming of Christ we've seen?
This group of rich politicians and their families (I seem to remember reading the President's tax return showed upwards of $2 million) is no different from the last group of rich politicians and their families. Totally out of touch with us, Middle America.

As the proprietor of the BN Kool Aid stand I can assure you no one ran out of Kool Aid, rhum, vodka or any other type of liquor you want in your Kool Aid. I believe we still have shrooms left from the 60's in the back as well.

Understandable that they are rich, but they should lead by example and not spend frivolously. Maybe they need to tighten their belts like all of us have had to and not spend? Isn't that what got us in this mess in the first place? People buying stuff is a good thing (we need to go our and buy a new refrigerator but that is because of necessity) but come on $540 sneakers. Maybe buy Jordan's for $100 not some French designer shoes.

Not sure how $540 sneakers made in Italy are going to do a whole lot to stimulate the economy and it sure rubs people's noses in it to wear them to a food bank where the people picking up items are likely to be jobless.....

Is it too far fetched to think she may have just grabbed a pair she liked or that were comfortable? I think her encouraging people to volunteer at the First Lady's luncheon yesterday and volunteering herself is setting a good example for all of America to follow.

I am upper middle class, but your logic when extrapolated suggests I should buy cheap dollar store shoes for my kids so I can "lead my community by example" and not frivolously spend money I can afford on something I actually like?
Not gonna do it. I guess I'll take my chances outraging my lower middle class neighbors.
Now if the president were to wear a PUFFY SHIRT to an international meeting of leaders discussing the Somalia pirate crisis .........

I think there's middle ground. I don't buy cheap crap either; I buy quality. But I wouldn't wear expensive shoes to a Food Bank. I think it's rude. Or worse yet, tacky....

Anyone who actually attended that function and who may have decided to harp on the first lady's shoes first while overlooking the larger picture of charity and volunteerism that the event was all about has their priorities too out of whack for me.
I do understand this after-the-fact online discussion, similar discussions occurred about the previous administration too, but these types of "issues" it smack me of being petty.
