Is the world ready for us?

Post by parrotcuda »

As big as Jimmy is out there. We have all often wondered and discussed why he isnt more mainstream. By that I mean along the lines of a Kenny Rogers or a Elton John or even Bono.
We all know he has talent and a irresistable personality.Major venue sellouts year after year Muliti platinum albums and best selling books.-----But whats missing? No radio play? No MTV videos? ------You know we will ALL watch that first Dol-fins home game.
Live! from Landshark Stadium in Miami Florida!----The Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys! (or whatever) The cameras will pan the stadium and Parrotheads will be there in full costume. At some point they will run video of the tailgating out in the parking lot,Again more Parrotheads.Dolphins score a TD and here comes fins! Millions watching at home will say----Hey, what the hell is that?
This could rock our world like nothing ever before. We had a breif blip on the radar with the whole CMA,s and the 5-o-clock thing. But this could be it. I can envision millions of overnight Parrotheads.----Any body else feel this light tremor?
Indecision may or may not be my problem

No, not even close. JB isn't really that big. I mention Buffett to my friends who aren't fans and the reactions range from "who?" to "oh, the Margaritaville guy" to "he's still performing?" He's not as "big" as your run of the mill Parrothead seems to think he is.

I don't think I will be watching the first dolphins game...lol I watch the games for football not to see advertising. I also doubt that his advertising will increase ticket sales, really the fans are there for football not to dance to the advertising and music that might get piped in during timeouts and halftime.

Wow, I actually agree with Skibo on something. This is baaaad!! :D
I really doubt that Parrotheads are all of a sudden going to start hitting Dolphin Stadium.
I, for one, will probably go out of my way to avoid witnessing another episode like that press conference.

Being a Parrothead is and should remain something for people who "get it". Putting it out for the masses like this holds absolutely no appeal for me.

And Larry is right, I have a stage shot from Raleigh as my screen saver at work. People have asked me "Is that James Taylor?" "Is that Phish?" When I say Jimmy Buffett they either smile vaguely or give me the facial expression equivalent of the kind of pat on the head you'd give to a not too bright kid.

for me, the appeal of being a PH is that we are different and live life to the beat of a different drummer. I personally don't want to see that become "the in thing" and everyone pretend to be a PH. I'll tolerate the Landshark Stadium thing for this season and then hope it goes away and things get back to normal.
Honestly, if everyone suddenly "got it", I'd probably give it up, 'cause it would lose what makes it special.

dont worry if it does become a fad it wont last long. The world moves way faster than we. Laying on the beach just doesnt cut when it comes to thugs, metrosexuals,or queer eyes. Mind you I have no prob with them but we are all diffrent and we all stick to our own kind.

I run into way more people here in Florida who know who Jimmy Buffett is than I did in the Northeast.
Maybe it is because palm trees, tiki huts, and a laid back lifestyle are pretty much the norm here on the Gulf Coast but Jimmy Buffett music is played everywhere around here. :D :D

I am not a Dolphins fan although I am a huge football fan. The Dolphin/Jimmy Buffett connection is a perfect fit for both parties involved. It is perfect for South Florida. I wish them both well in their little endeavor and hopefully they will all experience increased sales in this crappy economy.

No not at all free enterprise at its best. You don't advertise you don't sell.

Well said.

I also agree the Dolphin/Jimmy Buffett connection is a perfect fit. I also wish them all well in this endeavor. I also think it is going to be fun times for those Parrotheads who are willing to open their eyes to some positive possibilities as well as for Dolphin fans. I think this is just going to be just plain FUN!!
