Farrah Fawcett

Post by Lightning Bolt »

It's becoming evident that my teenage pin-up crush is nearing the final days of her life

Entertainment Tonight was just showing some incredible interviews with the photographer who shot this all-time best-selling poster.
His outtakes were just some of the hottest, yet tastefully posed photos of a sex symbol I'd ever seen.
I'm sure they'll be released, and so many other as yet unseen clips, after she passes, and it makes me suddenly ponder this...

Like Marilyn Monroe, her legacy is sure to only grow when we no longer have her on this good earth, and
do you think Farrah will soon be revered as the "greatest" sex symbol that we have known in our generation?

Been watching a little of the news stories about her. :( :( :( :( The Today show is showing more tomorrow. I just can't watch much of it. It makes me very sad.

This lady is no "dumb blonde" by any stretch of the imagination.

If I had to guess, I'd say she was the inspiration to Jimmy's song "Smart Woman In A Real Short Skirt." (Beauty & brains).

What an actress, what a lady.
How heartbreaking it is to see this American icon wasting away.
Yes, I was a Charlie's Angels fan (although Jaclyn Smith was my favorite), but this lady is true Americana, and I pray that, if she is indeed in her final days, that her pain and suffering is minimal.
I hope she received as much joy in her life as she gave to others.

Prayers & godspeed to this dynamic lady.

I too have been reading some of the stories and it makes me sad. What I find reprehensible is the fact that someone from her hospital in CA (UCLA I think) leaked all her medical info out. And, I believe she said that the hospital was asking her to make a (large) donation as a way to sort of cover it up. I read it over on E!. Nonetheless, it will be tragic when she leaves us. Cancer sucks.

I wonder if the hospital was fined or if the employee fined and jailed under HIPAA laws?

She most certainly was an important part of American pop culture. I remember friends having to wear their Farrah t-shirts inside out in school.

What and iconic poster that was. I know I had it up on my wall for a long time! And to look back on it now, how very simple it was - a one color, one-piece suit and a background that looks like they bought it at a roadside sale. Yet its popularity was unmatched (until Cheryl Teigs was on the cover of SI).

Thanks Farrah!

Yeah, the person who did this apparently leaked other info about other celebs too. Here is a link to the story: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b123190 ... attle.html

I have to believe if a poll were done across America for people old enough to remember, Farrah would be voted as the female face of the 70's.
Between her roles on Charlie's Angels, her marriage to Lee Majors, her hairstyle that everyone had to copy, her poster that every boy fantasized to in their bedrooms, and her other work and roles, she was the face of the 70's just as Burt Reynolds would probably be voted as her male counterpart.
I hope Farrah has enjoyed the ride as much as many of us have enjoyed watching her, and if these are her last days, that they are pain free and filled with family and loved ones.

I remember buying that poster of her from the 70's for a $1 at a garage sale back in the 80's.

Sad story, hopefully when she goes it will be peaceful...

Still sort of stunned, did her and Ryan get married?
