Jmacboi wrote:I totally understand being Jimmy is the Entertainer/Artist/Performer he has the right to pull the plug if he feels it's necessary to do so on any concert. However, we the people/fans/Parrotheads are the ones who pay the tab that gives him that "Particular Harbor" of security that he has come to know over the years. I'm sure he appreciates it and has said so many, many times during his shows, and on Radio Margaritaville. We of course won't be happy with the canceled West Coast Concerts that we so planned for even with an explanation or apology. But, it would ease the pain just a little to know he really does care about his followers and supporters on the West Coast, East Coast, and all around the World. It's a matter of principle, professionalism, and common courtesy for those of us who made major plans based on the release of the scheduled tour dates we got so excited about.

I obviously opened up an entire can of Parrothead Whoop A.. when I started this particular post. But, the bottom line is; it really does matter when to announce or pull the plug on Major Concerts when there's a lot of planning, money, and feelings of people involved. If there's a major health issue, or personal issue that makes it virtually impossible to have the scheduled show go on it would be understandable for most of us, and we'd be supportive. However, what's been said in this thread by so many people points to the fact that we as fans don't own Jimmy Buffett or his schedule, and he doesn't own or control us and our decisions whether to follow and support him or not. However, we do share a common ground that make up the Parrothead World, and that should never be taken for granted by any of us including Jimmy. A logical explanation of the canceled dates would be most appreciated, and ease the pain a little. It can't be poor ticket sales, because we never had a chance to actually buy the tickets yet. So, there isn't anything to justify the cancellations based on "Poor Ticket Sales" or "Bad Economy"..

I do know most of us will continue to listen to Jimmy and Radio Margaritaville, and buy products. So, "We're Still Here" complaining and grumbling, but what else can we do? I just hope somehow it makes some of us feel better letting whoever know exactly how we feel!

AMEN!
And as an east coaster, I love my west coast peeps. I've gotten to know so many of you, it feels like coming home to visit. I'll be out there in October if Jimmy's playing or not! (Cuz I already bought tix....

I don't think it is so much as to the West Coast getting screwed as it is the concerts that have been canceled were on the West Coast and announced for the Fall/October lineup. That being said, there have already been plans made to attend those concerts. If those particular concerts weren't announced, maybe there's quite a few of us that would have made other plans to attend other shows that weren't canceled, however it's too late now.

No matter how much you backtrack you still are exhibiting the attitude of screw the west coast people - no big deal. The east coast is much more important with all their parrothead clubs.

You might as well say that because your tap dancing all around it.

A tree toad loved a she-toad
Who lived up in a tree.
He was a two-toed tree toad
But a three-toed toad was she.
The two-toed tree toad tried to win
The three-toed she-toad's heart,
For the two-toed tree toad loved the ground
That the three-toed tree toad trod.
But the two-toed tree toad tried in vain.
He couldn't please her whim.
From her tree toad bower
With her three-toed power
The she-toad vetoed him.

Give him a break - he was only saying it in response to what you wrote which was kind of antagonistic. I just went back and read his posts and all he said was that he personally wouldn't make firm plans until tickets went on sale. And he also pointed out that the West Coast HAS gotten their share of shows at the end of the last tour and this year.

In fact, if you consider Hawaii to be West Coast the count is
7 West Coast dates
7 Southern dates ( I waffled on VA but figure they're southern)
7 East Coast dates
6 Midwest dates

And yes I realize that not everyone can afford Hawaii but if we're talking the "coast" argument I don't know where else to put it.

And thank you BTW for taking it to the next level and insulting all East Coast people.
I really do understand that you're upset but maybe you need to chill out a little before posting
again. I think you're getting yourself more wound up.

I go to the west coast shows....but don't really blame Jimmy for canceling these shows no matter what his reason is. When shows on the east coast continually sell out and shows out west are not....which part of the country are you going to put more priority on? I think we had our chance to show we deserved more shows and unfortunately we failed the test. I'm not saying that those of you posting on here are not big phans.....you most certainly are....but there's not enough of us to merit both a spring and fall tour on the west coast when shows this month are taking place with empty seats.
