THAT DOG WON'T HUNT
The damn things hadn't even gone on sale yet and Seattle area shows have historically sold out within minutes.
A
sold-out show was cancelled? Seems unusual.
Re- read that hun.
One of the reasons why the shows sell out so quickly is that he rarely comes up here.
I'm really close to calling him a bastard at this point.
Apologies. Reading too fast.
How awful a letdown, again.
Just another reason to move back to Texas

Do we have any confirmation that any show besides Seattle was canceled (rather than pulled from the website)?
The first Vegas show wouldn't have been because of the Dolphins- they have a bye week, so there's no conflict there. The second Vegas weekend is a 4:15 game- he could spend the night there and would still have plenty of time to get back by game time.
I don't know whether the shows are truly canceled or not, but I'm sure it wasn't because of the Dolphins deal.

Maybe the Dolphins deal requires more than he just show up at the games?

Well, we have a "reliable source" who "mentioned" something, and after all,
it is "rumored"...
Wonder what Jimmy has to say about all this, or perhaps his handlers have told him it's not wise to speak to the phans right now...

I have mixed feelings about this, while I am a fan and was planning on going to the Oct 24 Vegas show, I won't miss the $211 ticket prices. Denver is rarely on the tour and Vegas was the next best place to catch a show and now it is gone. I understand that JB has a business to run, but the price has gotten too high for me to be fan anymore. I'll still enjoy the music, but won't prusue the concerts as much. There are other artists that put on a good show for much less money. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted......

The Vegas Shows is another story and is understandable with the economy, but the other shows being canceled makes no sense at all? Of course if something else is happening and taking priority on the East Coast, then it all comes together.

I'm not so sure that this is the case either as both shows this week still have plenty of tickets available. I just checked both Concord and Irvine and was able to pull up 6 tickets together in reserved seating for both locations. This clearly shows me that its not just scattered singles that are open...but there are likely thousands of seats still unsold for the shows this week.
Seattle may be the exception....but Irvine and Chula Vista are close enough that if one's not selling out, the other isn't likely to do so either.
And if Seattle is the only place out west that can successfully sell tickets this year (and I'm skeptical of that), it still doesn't make financial sense to make the trip for one show out west this fall.

But why would he agree to a deal that requires he p*** off his fans nationwide in a market where he's well known already? He's not going to gain fans in Miami- everyone knows him there already. I can see a show shoehorned in, but Jimmy wouldn't give up a paying gig in favor of a free one.

The story out of Miami is that there's a lot of personal appearance requirements in the deal with the Dolphins.
Like having Buffett around is all of a sudden going to make the Dolphins good. I mean, really.
It's not about gaining fans. It's about selling beer. Maybe the Landshark numbers aren't where he wants them. Maybe it's about having the kids sit in the owners box. But the timing is too good for it not to be about the stadium deal.

I realize I'm the small voice crying in the wilderness, but if the fall leg really has been canceled I think we should keep in mind the possibility of a non-music, non-business related personal issue.....

I just called the MGM Grand Public relations Dept. and they gave me a very vague answer regarding the October dates. Their official statement is that "the October Dates at the MGM Grand were never officially announced nor were they cancelled, they said that the show "may or may not go on". I told them that the dates were announced on Margaritaville.com and that Jimmy even did a video personally announcing the all the tour dates for 2009. They said that Margaritaville never 'officially' announced any tour dates. And then she quickly ended the conversation.

You must have the magic touch! I tried to get 2 seats, any price at Concord and got nothing. And I tried twice. (I'm talking ticketmaster, not stubhub, etc)

Right now you are a small voice.
There's a LOT of people on the west coast that have been screwed over by this. The bastard has lied to the PNW since 2005 about having more shows up here - just like he's lied to Australia. He announced the shows, people made plans and reservations that are non refundable. His fans are owed an explanation - even if he just says "I'm cancelling because of health issues" - they're owed SOMETHING. Right now it's as if he's saying ***** y'all you don't matter.

You are absolutely right on target. There could be something going on. The timing of the concerts being pulled exactly as the stadium deal was announced makes it a bit suspect, but it's very, very possible.
Which is why it's that more important to say something. Nobody wants gruesome details, but a "for personal reasons, these concerts had to be cancelled." (Note to file: don't follow that up with a big announcement of a couple of concerts in Miami).
Instead, we've been left with "well, Nadirah told my cousin's mom," and "Michael Utley's secretary's sister said," and the everpresent "well, the local PHC told me," type rumors. It would just be nice to have someone be courteous and tell the truth. Not a big request, but also not likely to happen if it hasn't happened by now.

Although we all p*ssed and moaned about wanting all the tour dates all at once, fact is if they'd waited on announcing the west coast dates like they normally do, they'd have simply never been announced and while people wouldn't have liked not having a show out there they also wouldn't be holding non-refundable airplane tickets. Sort of a case of be careful what you wish for....

It's almost as if you're saying it's the fans fault for believing the announcements the man made.
