....have other bands, from time to time, throughout the history of live music, also cancelled scheduled shows?

I think they have.

Just wanted to confirm it. It feels to me that a lot of people around here are acting as if Jimmy (or more specifically, his representation/handlers) has crossed a line that has never been crossed by cancelling shows.

I've had tickets for shows by other performers that were canceled. The major difference is those artists respected their fans enough to tell us WHY they were canceled.

No, you're not wrong.
And not to get off topic here, but I've heard from at least two very reliable inside sources that Jimmy's "handlers/represenatives" have very often overstepped their bounds almost to the nth degree.

Just a little more food for thought on this warm, fuzzy night here in Anytown, U.S.A. [smilie=asa.gif]

Note to Jimmy: Hire a good P.R. firm. A big part of the value of an entertainment franchise is represented by goodwill. You don't have a lot of hard assets, but you'd dambed well better protect your goodwill a whole lot better than you have been with this fiasco.

Years ago we were halfway into a 90 minute trip to see a show, when we heard on the radio it was cancelled...about 2 hours before it was to start. What ya gonna do? [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]

I forget who the artist was, but I think they might have been having voice problems. And that's as good as excuse as any, you wouldn't want to cancel early in the morning and find out by 2 p.m. that you're feeling fine.

None of Jimmy's x'd out shows affect me, but I'm interested to see how this all plays out.

I've sen that happen myself - I've also seen shows where the performer was sick. It was obvious they were sick, and in a way I wished they had canceled the show. I've been to shows where the performer should have canceled because he was too drunk/stoned to perform and I've seen shows that were canceled because of a performer's relapse. I've seen shows announced and then changed/canceled. This is the only time I've seen several shows canceled by a performer with no explanation whatsoever and that's what has me so miffed. I've been to 2 shows since September and I consider myself lucky. I know people that can't afford to spend appx 2-3k to go to a show and are forced to go to a local show. Some of those people have been waiting 6 years or longer just for a show in their area and it's for those people I'm pi$$ed. Quite frankly - IF the Seattle show had not been canceled and I knew someone that hadn't gone in years I'd just give them a ticket. I've done that before and it was so nice to see the smiles on faces.
